Thanks y'all. My parents stopped updating me yesterday evening, so my assumption is they're okay for now.
Ah, your parents are also of the “I’ll only communicate with you for terrible news” school. I’m sorry your dad’s sick.
Dad's test came back positive. My mom's talking about getting tested, but it's more important she stays away from other people. We'll see if they can follow instructions.
Oh no I am sorry! Is he home or still in the hospital? I hope your mom follows orders and quarantines!
They're both at home. My cousin is at another aunt's/uncle's house since Sat. My parents are fighting me about telling them she needs to be tested.
The first post in my IG thread today was video taken by one of my students of her family setting off professional grade fireworks in their neighborhood. She tagged a bunch of people and said she was with her cousins. This is the student whose mom tested positive for Covid. She doesn’t live with her cousins so I guess they all learned jack shit from her mom getting it. This is exactly why I don’t want to go back to the classroom. We have no control over what these kids and families are doing outside of school and the kids are going to bring it to school and infect everyone. Despite what politicians say, there is no way to socially distance at schools. They wouldn’t know because they haven’t stepped foot inside a classroom since 12th grade. Also, people are setting off fireworks right now at 11:30am. It’s not July 4th anymore assholes.
