@Vespidae I find the most amazing free or almost free stuff on Nextdoor. It may be worth joining.
I joined a few...dozen...houseplant groups on FB and basically ruined my life. I now need to buy new shelves for my cuttings plus maybe 2 more grow lights.
My happy place
I love it! So many nice plant babies!
Oh good, it isn't just me and @CoolWife getting completely out of control.
My grandma got me a trio of cute planters for Christmas and a really nice shelf for the living room window for my birthday. Hahaha I have enablers.
I got more lights, special soil, and am constantly hunting for new plants. I dream of south facing sunrooms.
New lights set up. New plants arrived today with two more orders expected soon. I'm gonna need a whole new apartment to make my suburban jungle house.
Girl you’re in deep. When you buy a $4500 albo send me a cutting, k?
I'm still in the "$40 for one plant is a crazy splurge" stage. Give me a couple of weeks tho, and I might be importing stuff from Indonesia
$40 is a lot! My biggest baby was still only $17 at Costco (a Monstera, it grew a lot).
Running joke right now is how much people are trying to charge for plants and plant cuttings. The more I laugh about it the more I see it happening. Someone on reddit bought a beautiful monstera for $9 at the grocery store yesterday and the entire thread is people gasping in shock and jealousy at her good fortune.
I just walked through my jungle and remembered I spent $30-something on my lemon tree. It has lemons that are starting to turn yellow!!
How long have you had it?
Since May 24, 2020. Lol. It’s been working on these lemons since I got it.
@Vespidae wut, you don't think it's fair to pay $1500 for a single leaf without any roots for your DREAM plant??
@CoolWife link us that $6,000 monstera from etsy!
Y’all I am one of the crazy people. I spent $1400 on a thai constellation though the whole plant. It’s worth it. Invest. Sell cuttings. Buy more plants. It’s a bad cycle.
$10k!!! Even if I had the money and desire, I'd be too afraid of killing it to really enjoy it.
@Basil I’m still so jealous. I told my husband this morning that I had an investment opportunity for him. Albo cuttings for $300 and full plants sell for $1500-$10k.
It’s honestly amazing. Out local store got in a few and I just went for it since they are always great.
I make a lot from cuttings that it paid for a part of my graduate degree.
My mom brought me a pot of bulbs and my middle school yearbook and I’m still trying to figure out how I hurt her.
Y’all’s plants look amazing, my shit will be dead in 4 weeks.
I make light fun of the big spends, but NGL if I had more confidence in my ability to keep an expensive plant happy, I'd seriously consider the investment. As it is, I have bought some cuttings and tiny rooteds of plants I don't plan on keeping long term. Hopefully people still really love and want them AND I can keep them happy for next year.
@CoolWife @Lh718 if I have some small growth from the winter I will gladly send cuttings of either Monstera (thai or albo) once it get warmer or any other plants
