Which monstera wet stick did you get? Albo variegata? Aurea? Thai constellation? I need to know!
@lrrr oh gosh, just regular deliciosa I think, definitely something very common. I'm practicing for future, pricier chonks.
Ah ok, I thought maybe you went all in lol.
@Basil I keep buying pink plants because they make me happy. And anything a little weird and pretty. But anyway. I keep going back and forth on a pink Princess. Worth it? They looks gorg when they grow up but how long does that take and is it really as easy as other philos? My Brazil is one of my favorite newbs, it’s so striking.
I have to go pick up a basic bitch rubber tree and a never never / ctenanthe tomorrow.
@CoolWife I’m currently experimenting with a pink princess at the moment. They will put out small foliage from a cutting for the first 5-6 leaves with little variation but they love an bright indirect light exposure to give you the pink beauty they are know for. If you want one with a lot of pink already it’s near $500 and you need to make sure it’s put out a leaf since cutting or its a waste of money. I am starting with a small cutting that is thriving under a grow light. Had just speckles of pink or all burgundy on its 2 leaves and it is finally put out 3 new leaves which are growing larger in size and variegation. If you have a nice window or grow light to offer bright indirect light for 6-8 hours it will thrive in its beauty. If you also don’t want to pay a ton of money for a large one I suggest plantyqueens. They have some that have sold listed for $250-$275 but the size and price is great to get you started. The ones they sell are the right age to start putting out a ton of pink in the right condition.
Thanks! I’m probably still not willing to pay that much, but when I see local clippings for $75 I just might. We have a lot of good light in this house, and I do have a couple grow lights, so that I can manage.
As long as you can see the mother plant and the stems are deep pink and some pink on a leaf I would take the clipping especially if rooted. That is how mine started out and it’s only been 4 weeks with great progress. I’m hoping to get it climbing up a pole by end of summer.
Ok now I regret not getting one already.
If you don't already have one, get an Alternanthera Party Time, @CoolWife !
At least the pink princess prices remained fairly steady the last year unlike other plants that have skyrocketed in comparison.
It has to get more reasonable when everyone has to go back to work, right?
You will probably see a lot more of rehab type plants for sale once people return to office life and have the ability to go out again. Many will forget about their plants and attempt to sell them for money before they die. I do know a lot of people are now selling out of their homes for added income, so likely to see large purges related to more job opportunities.
I wanna know who can fucking afford this BUT ALSO creeps on a low rent FB plant sale group to buy cuttings.
I see posts like that often or sellers with really small cuttings requesting large prices with their deceiving size photos. No I will not pay $500 for an albo monstera with three tiny leaves the size of a pothos
Speaking of deceiving photos, lol.
My $19 Tineke.
My greenhouse window. I’m going to put frosted film on it to diffuse the light a bit as my plants get burned in summer, but I have my Phaleonopsis in bloom, a Miltonia and Cattleya orchid, and momma Pilea in the white pot next to her babies.
What a nice collection! Orchid is so pretty. I have too many and they all really need to be repotted so I think I’m going to move them all to leca.
@CoolWife Imma sporadically spam you.
Those aren’t super happy living outdoors here but I might get some anyway.
I picked up my pearls n jade pothos yesterday and it is tiny but adorable and I love it so much.
Got my raven zz in this week!
Having that right next to my neon pothos makes that little space the happiest part of my apartment.
And my larger peppers are currently butt chugging in the tub, because I couldn't think of a better way.
One of my newest - domino peace lily! I've wanted one forever. Look how perfect and tiny it is! Well, tiny compared to my ones in 2gal pots, lol.
Cute. Is it as temperamental as a normal one? My Lily Bitch seems happy in her new pot but no flowers yet.
I'm sure it'll be the same way as my others. I can't wait to see it flower.
I got myself a purple baby Phaleonopsis last week and baby white Phaleonopsis a few days ago. When I start going to Trader Joe’s again I’ll probably have orchids out the wazoo, because they always have a nice variety for reasonable prices. I really want an Epidendrum. They thrived in my childhood home and make me happy.
