A NJ photographer did a The Walking Dead themed photoshoot with 24 children under age 7. You can see all the photos here: https://www.facebook.com/MotherHubbardPhotography/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1032886090122625 In case Facebook removes them (because people are all kinds of pissed off), I'll post a few below. I'm putting them in a spoiler tag because some depict graphic violence. Spoiler: images contain fictional violence. I don't mind the concept, but I see why some people would get pissy. The thing that annoys me the most is putting those kids on railroad tracks just for a shot.
I mean, I figure the kids don't know what's going on, and I know nothing about railroad tracks but those ones might not be in active use.
It's still illegal to trespass on railroad tracks even if they're not in use anymore. Plus it's usually unsafe and always cliché.
I guess if she was wanting to drum up some press, then she got what she was looking for. Other than that, why? I don't think most of these are at all clever. She could have had them in non violent scenes as the known characters, like the pic of the kid in the Daryl vest by the Harley rocking horse. That was actually cute. Having the kids dressed as walkers is okay, but that scene from The Grove? The bat scene? It isn't even like this is making some kind of a statement. It's a just a TV show, and an over-rated one at that.
Is it illegal to walk on railroad tracks? We used them all the times as kids because it was a pretty quick way to get to the river and there wasn't poison oak and blackberry bramble always growing over the path.
@Honey I guess you have a point, but this feels less like art and more like attention whoring. The two are mutually exclusive though, I guess.
Oh yay, nothing like promoting violence to our youth! As if they don't get desensitized to that enough, let's have them pretend to shoot eachother execution style. -_-
Even dead tracks can be dangerous. Other kinds of rail vehicles can still use them. Some look dead and aren't, and often have live tracks running close to them too. Re: the photos, I'm with pickles. I think the weapons are a bit much. Having them just as walkers or characters would've been cool.
Our local radio station has been having a field day with this. They've been taking calls from listeners and everyone is either "it's totally fine, I'm glad someone did this and isn't listening to all the haters" or "she should have her children taken away from her and all the other parents that let their kids be involved need to be punished!".
