We are already seeing the effects of unsocialized quarantine puppies There was already a huge increase in aggressive/reactive/fearful/anxious dogs because people are fairly apathetic towards training their dogs properly. I worry about all these poor doggos.
We're getting a new puppy in August. We've been on the breeder's waitlist for this litter for months, so it's just how it worked out. I'm definitely worried about how to socialize, as normally I would have done puppy classes. A neighbor down the hall from us has a 5ish month old, so I'm going to see if we can do some puppy playdates where the humans are socially distanced but the puppy can play with another (fully vaccinated) puppy.
@Erie I don't know a ton about them, but, have you heard of potcakes or looked into that avenue for adoption? They live in T&C and I think the Bahamas, and people volunteer to bring them to the US for adoption. It's still a type of rescue but not quite the traditional shelter adoption, so maybe something to check out!
Just a warning that a lot of those dogs come from off the streets and can be very shy and skittish in the beginning. Make sure your yard is very secure! They're flight risks because they get spooked and run.
Scout PR’d today and look at how happy this freaking dog is. And the real reason I came here, does anyone have pet insurance that they’d recommend? from what I understand they don’t cover vaccines, wellchecks, or routine dental. Which is annoying but fine. I just wanna be prepared for the bigger costs if something happens. Also just found out I can vaccinate him for rattle snake bites so definitely doing that.
They're cute! Will post pictures once we have him. They're real furry, but apparently don't shed all that much. The long coats are so pretty, but I think we'll keep him in a lower maintenance short cut.
There’s one who does agility around here, he’s so cute! He’s so spunky on the course too, it’s fun to watch him.
Fry is delighted by our friend’s budgie, so she frequently sends us videos of his shenanigans. It’s a hand reared bird that has loads of personality, and I’m living for these videos as much as my kid is at this point.
I just want to #bragbrag that Purple and BIL and SILs dog are laying on either side of my legs. A Fitz sandwich.
Yesterday was apparently "Check the Chip Day" to remind pet parents to microchip their pets and update the info if necessary.
Ben’s anxiety has gotten to the point where we had to get him CBD. We just started it yesterday and it seems to be calming him down already but not totally. The vet said it would be a few days to see the results. Fingers crossed it works because I’m working from home 3 days/week and I need him to not meow at the top of his lungs for 5 minutes straight while I’m teaching live on Zoom. Also need him to stop doing that several times per night because I need to sleep. He’s still cute though. OMJG @Lh718 Ryder is so freaking cute!
