Ooh good point about the sodium. I shouldn't eat them either, probably. OK just did the math and there are 7mg of sodium per cheese ball. No xylitol.

Probably fine for just a few like you were doing, though.

Yeah, legit I've probably only let the dog eat a total of 4-5 cheeseballs over a 3 week period. She's a chonk and I don't want her getting in the habit of expecting to eat any kind of people food. I'm now thinking I should probably curb my own consumption though, haha.

Why when my dog wants to play tug does she bring me the toy least suited for the game?

Ok I just mentioned the xylitol issue to W (we always look at peanut butter labels - we don’t usually buy as many snacks as we have in our house right now). Apparently every snack he’s bought in the last few weeks he’s checked the labels to make sure there’s no xylitol or other dog-unfriendly stuff just in case <3

It’s been 5 weeks since Maggie went to doggie daycare and without any changes to her diet and no more physical activity than before (maybe the same) she’s starting to slim down a little. I’m beginning to suspect they were sneaking her treats to get snuggles.

I wouldn’t say Lucy’s lost weight but she seems legit hungry by like 4pm so I suspect our daycare also is liberal with the snackos.

I’ve cut Vixen’s food back 1/4 cup a day since this all started. When I went to our usual hiking spot yesterday morning it was fine, I’ll try Tuesday afternoon and see how it is. Definitely won’t try weekends. She’s been going stir crazy without hiking and agility

Olive usually would get dry food once S came home from school. Then she started getting her dry food around kid lunch time once S wasnt going to school anymore. Now she starts begging like she hasn't eaten ever by 10/11am... then she sometimes begs like we didnt give her any late in the afternoon and she is really convincing. She also gets wet food twice a day (morning and night), but she prefers the dry.

Bacon is so anxious that he paces himself thin when we're all home. He got really skinny during maternity leave and we really have to make sure that he is given more food.

Ham, on the other hand, continues to sleep in bed all day, so he's fine. S did put him on a diet not long ago. He's one of those, lucky boy, who seems to lose all the weight he needs at the thought of a diet, so he is looking trim.

Eva gets tired of us after breakfast and snoozes in her kennel until she has to pee or thinks it might be close to eating time.

Ryder is also hitting his max of us time. The last two nights he has opted to sleep in the living room, and today he spent most of his time in the bedroom.

Dog hates baths but I finally had to bathe her this morning. She still loves me though, so I guess I did okay.

I've never heard of it. Looking though my vet med board there are some alternative med/holistic consultants that recommended it, but also acknowledge there are no studies to support its use. So, basically the same as any holistic treatment, some people support it, but those who prefer to stick with evidence based medicine do not.

Apoquel/Cytopoint have worked miracles for allergy dogs, especially compared to when the only other viable options were steroids or very expensive Atopica. When Apoquel first came out, they had recommendations not to use it in pets with a history of cancer and to discontinue if a pet did develop a type of cancer. A more recent study showed no statistical difference in cancer rates between dogs on Apoquel and those that weren't. The most recent things I've read from dermatology and pharmacology consultants on the vet med board are not to stop it if a pet develops cancer.

I remember when it first came out, I was working ER in Dallas so I never prescribed it. A woman complained to me that her bulldog got lymphoma from Apoquel. And the things you want to say to clients but can't "lady, being born a bulldog gave your dog lymphoma".

This is about what I figured and assumed lol. Would you be comfortable with me copying and pasting parts of your response? This lady is recommending it to EVERYONE in this thread and insists it’s miracle treatment that vets just don’t understand.

That's fine, but there's no reasoning with that level of crazy
