I've been debating a regular exercise bike - my friend has a cheap one from Amazon that is pretty decent. Or a treadmill. I would rather go to the gym though and have choices.

@Fitz you literally have to go to lengths to find one fast. I ordered one from Schwinn and decided just to wait out the 45 days for the iC4. I ended up joining a Facebook group which gave me the ins and outs of finding one faster. I think it's the same with the other two bikes. You basically have to check Best Buy, Amazon, or Dick's Sporting Goods daily and often because they will randomly come in stock. I got it within a week and canceled my Schwinn order.

Anyway, ours is in the kitchen nook since we don't eat there.

Sounds like my quest. I tried to get a used or refurbished Keiser for weeks but it was no go. So I ended up stalking the Keiser website daily until they released some. Then it took them 10 days to build it.

I also have it in the breakfast nook.

Oof I just did tabata for the first time in like 2 months (our finance director has started leading it from home via video) and I might throw up  It was good to do it again though. I've been walking a lot (at least 3 but up to 12 miles per day) but I'm not used to this kind of workout right now.

I rode my new spin bike for the first time last night and holy hell am I sore. So much worse than any other time I restarted exercise.

Normally it takes 24+ hours to get sore. Last night it woke me up from my sleep (so maybe 7-8 hours after the ride).

I guess walking around the City really made a difference, and my leg muscles have gone to hell during SIP.

I took an FTP test on the bike today. Man, I have a lot of work to do!

Jeff Goldblum bless. I'm trying to motivate myself to exercise at all let alone more regularly. I popped my tae bo circuit DVD on and made it through maybe 7min before collapsing in a heap. Letting my heart calm down a little then going out to jog up and down my short street.

The physical person I was when I did tae bo everyday could fit neatly inside the person I am today. It's depressing, and I'm trying to turn it into motivation.

Hey, you got up and got started. That is a victory.

7 minutes becomes 10, etc. It's great that you got started.

@Lh718 also, this kind of inspired me too. Something IS better than nothing. And I've been doing a ton of nothing lately. So if I can do even 10 or 15 minutes of something, even if it's not intense, at least it's a start.

    (Until MIL starts watching....)

I’ve been going to a new gym with a variety of different HIIT, Pilates, yoga and barre classes and trying a bit of everything. To my surprise, Piloxing has been my favorite. I totally recommend it to anyone who likes to dance.

I had to google that because I’ve never heard of it. Sounds fun. I can’t do hard stuff right now because of my back but I might try that out once my back is better.

I’m doing personal training today for the first time since having Minnow. We’ll see how it goes. She’s much clingier than Fry was, so we’ll see how much of a workout I get.

I know I have a new shiny baby, plus another kid and it’s covid times, but at this point with Fry I’d lost a good chunk of the baby weight, and this time I haven’t. I’m missing Pilates a lot and need to figure out how to start practicing it again. It’s just hard to make it a priority when taking care of both kids. By the time they’re both in bed, it’s late enough that I only have time to do a bit of house cleaning, and even then the house doesn’t look civilized.

Two kids is so hard. Do whatever you need to to feel stronger again! I’m moving around way more, and doing walks or a lunch workout most days now that I am back at work. It’s made a huge difference in just how my body feels - not so sore or constantly clicking and cracking.

I have spinal issues too. I think the most trying thing on my back is the 60 second plank we do at the end. I feel like it’s easily modifiable to injury.

Oh no, it’s not an injury. I have osteoarthritis and the pain has been almost unbearable in the last week or so. It makes it impossible to do anything except walking which is frustrating because that doesn't lose the weight in my stomach. I started physical therapy today and I’m going to do CoolSculpting to get rid of some of the fat. I’ve never experienced pain like this. I can’t even put pants on without sitting on the bed. Yoga and Pilates made the pain worse for some reason which is weird because I was doing both and it was fine up until a few weeks ago. I tried Tahitian dancing but that made it worse too. I’m so over the pain.

eta- LOLOLOL nevermind. Not doing Coolsculpting. Nobody puts prices on their websites so I had to go off of what Google said the average price is. I had a consultation today and they quoted me $6k. That’s for 4 visits so really it’s not that bad but I thought I could do it with just one visit. Not paying $6k.

How are you feeling, @virgo ?

Re: coolsculpting, I’ve heard from people who’ve had lipo done that it usually comes back elsewhere, if that’s any consolation.

I’m sorry you’re in so much pain. Hopefully the PT helps.

@Afishwish I'm actually feeling better! The physical therapist gave me some exercises for back extension because doing that wasn't painful (any kind of bending forward was excruciating but that's less painful now). In the mornings it's really bad but doing the exercises makes it feel better almost instantly. I have another appointment on Wednesday. I haven't tried yoga or pilates yet because I don't want to mess it up but I'm going to ask about that at my appointment. I think I was just doing the wrong stuff. I kept stretching by bending forward.

Glad it’s working! A good PT is a godsend.

When I was doing PT he did a really good job of advising me on do’s and don’ts; for my issues at the time that meant no yoga and a modified Pilates practice. I imagine the PT will help you still do the exercise forms you love.
