I think bacon is excellent on many things, but goofy shit like bacon ice cream and bacon chocolate is a nope, and outside of bacon’s wheelhouse. Unpopular opinion: Mandalorian isn’t that great. I enjoyed it in the “this is a fun stupid distraction” sense, but I think the writing leaves much to be desired.
But baby Yoda! (I’ve never seen the show or any Star Wars movie, he’s just cute AF!) As for my bacon answer, I should add I don’t even understand eating just bacon, especially when it’s “extra crispy.” At that point just eat the bright red bits from the canister because it’s just salty cardboard. It should be cooked through but still meaty/pliable/ I don’t know how to describe it. Another TV related: I saw some episodes of Game of Thrones when J was watching and thought it was dumb. Books: I read the first 2 Harry Potter books and didn’t like them so I didn’t finish the series.
Hard hard agree. I actively despise them. This may get me banned from New England, but Dunkin Donuts iced coffee (unflavored) is just absolutely gross. If you see me with a Dunkin iced, it is always a cold brew.
If you get a hot coffee just brewed, or have the cold brew, its ok. But I agree the rest of it is subpar at best.
QotD 8.4: We're having breakfast together at a diner with the most extensive breakfast menu imaginable. What do you order? What do you wish I would order so that you can taste off my plate too?
I hate that I hate DD but yeah. It's just not great unless masked with a bunch of sweetener. Which sucks because DD is right next to my work. Nary a starbucks around me anymore. J has to bring it home for me from the one near his work. @Fitz Ive recently joined the cold brew craze. I actually tried a nitro cold brew from a local place that does delivery and MAN. It's so good. But I cant really justify the $27 for 6 cans, plus to get free shipping I'd need to order 2 cases, and they all have to go in the fridge right away and I dont have space for that. That's my whine/NEP though. Maybe once work starts back up though, since a daily macchiato is probably about the same price.
@Apples&Oranges do you have a french press? If not they're relatively small and cheap on Amazon. I use mine for cold brew - I put the coffee and water together at night, refrigerate, and press in the morning. Voila, cold brew!
I would order an everything bagel with cream cheese spreads, lox, onion, tomato, capers. On the side we would have tuna salad, egg salad, whitefish salad.
@Apples&Oranges I have this since J uses our french press. I like that it makes a concentrate so I can add water/cream to whatever strength I'm feeling each day and I have enough for several days. I store it in one of these so I can start a new pitcher.
@Apples&Oranges you, my friend, need this Cold Brew Mason Jar Coffee Maker by County Line Kitchen - 2 Quart, 64 oz – Durable Glass Jar, Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Filter, Flip Cap Lid For Easy Pouring, Save $ - Easily Make Your Own Cold Brew https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07772LL6V/?tag=cir0sn-20 A batch lasts maybe 3 days. Cheaper and delicious Edit: just realized you now have loads of cold brew maker suggestions
I’d have to go with fried chicken and waffles as my breakfast of choice, with a glass of fresh squeezed oj.
Probably gonna order that cold brew maker @Imabug1002 - I have a gift card I need to use and a new fridge coming this week with extra space to take up!
And for the second part of the question? I feel like the thing I should order to complement is probably biscuits and sausage gravy.
I’d probably get something decadent like French toast with caramel sauce and crispy bacon. Side of black coffee and an orange juice. Oh and a piece of pie for dessert, probably Dutch Apple or a berry kind. I’d want you to order something with French fries or onion rings so I can have some of those too.
There's this pecan crusted orange marmalade French toast casserole I once had at a B&B that I still dream about. It seems to be a common B&B/inn concept when I searched for a recipe. So a big serving of that with a side of a scrambled egg and a couple slices of crispy bacon (I see you @Imabug1002 ). I'd want you to order anything savory, bonus if hash browns are involved. Unpopular opinion - Dumbledore is a no better than Voldemort and possibly even worse.
For brunch, some type of crab cake benedict or a sausage biscuits and gravy with sausage patties and poached/over medium eggs on top with a mimosa and iced cold brew. I'm not huge on sweet brunch food but I do like a few bites of french toast.
