I had the same thoughts @Tumnus. But I figure what if one of my kids is LGBTQ? I want them and anyone else to know I’m a safe place.

@Tumnus link to the ones with the rainbow on the back? I have been thinking about buying yellow converse for months, and these just cinched it for me.

I would have had the same concern @Tumnus. Also, I love them and now I want a pair.

    Rainbows. Without a doubt.

You can customize basically any part of the shoe. I put rainbow unicorns on the back strip because it seemed necessary. I've wanted a pair since @Canaligator ordered a pair. The rainbow soles sold me on them at first.

Favorite bug sprays? I found a few via search, but the threads are a couple years old.

ETA: Oh also - has anyone found those electronic bug repellents to actually work?

Double ETA: Nevermind, the electronic ones are a scam. Revised question - anyone have any suggestions for keeping small areas like doorways bug free?

    Favorite bug spray for body?

What kind of bugs in the doorway?

@Zombie Llama yes for body. I'd love to be able to walk the dog without my body looking like a braille dictionary.

As for doorways, mostly the flying ones including mosquitoes. I was thinking a remote/phone operating diffuser with anti bug scents. That might not be safe with the dog though.

@Lh718 For the doorway it will depend on if you have a breeze or not. The natural options only have a 5 ft radius in low breezes. There are pesticide infused option that do better but still don’t do amazing with a breeze. Thermacell has a portable mosquito repeller that works well but a table top light/zapper has better results if windy.

@Basil I'd love even a 5ft radius really. I just want to be able to leave/enter without having a bunch get into the apartment.

@Lh718 Then it’s a bit easier if you don’t have regular winds over 10 mph. I haven’t seen any data on oils in diffusers and the candles can vary by brands but the thermacell product and similar do well and have a built in features if tipped over to shit off.

If you send me your city I can see if you are in our new trial zone too that would eliminate the issue.

I'm in Fresno, CA @Basil . I'll look into the thermacell.

Does anyone have a computer chair that they absolutely love? My chair is killing me and I need to order a new one. Most have good back support, preferably a non-mesh seat, but not too cushy and be comfortable for 8 hours a day, $600 CAD or less would be ideal, but I have some wiggle room since work will pay for it.

Wow, with that price point, I say go nuts with your requirements and search Amazon @Zoomzoom .

Any other specific wants? My chair also tilts front to back for example.

One of our office admins sent me some info on chairs they ordered for coworkers and one was over $800 CAD. He has severe sciatic pain though. I'm paying for it through my office equipment/training account not through general payment.

I don't typically use a lot of other features. I wouldn't mind if the arm rests were really adjustable because I have wide hips. I'm really focused on making my back and hips not suffer because work is hell right now due to that.

Adjustable lumbar support would also be nice as I find it's often in the wrong spot.

Ooh, I have a lot of thoughts on chairs. At work we have the Herman Miller Aeron chairs, and if I planned to work from home long term, I think I'd just buy that since it's really great, but for temporary and weekend/weeknight work, I can't justify the $1400 USD.

When I went searching a year ago, I discovered gaming chairs. They're built for people to play video games for hours and hours, so they have good back support and are very comfortable. Mine has an adjustable lumbar cushion that is clutch. I've worked for 20 hours straight and been reasonably comfortable. It's this one, but I've heard really good things about the Secretlab Omegachair, if you're looking to go higher end.

I also have this tuchus cushion, and it's great for long hours, plus I like that I can move it to other chairs in my apartment.

I almost bought an Aeron at the beginning of all of this. I had one when I worked for the record label and I loved it.

    OH MY Jeff Goldblum.

    OH MY Jeff Goldblum.

I never understood why people complain about their desk chairs so much until I realized just now that I’ve been working in a hospital almost entirely stocked with $1000 chairs for the past decade.

    (get the aeron)

I have been reading good things about the Aeron, but guys that thing is $$$$$$$$! I'll have to take a hard look at how much I have in my expense account and if I can justify that.

Good office chairs are crazy expensive and I hate that I can't try them thanks to covid.

If two hospitals who have occupational ergonomic committees pick them as their default chair...

My coworker's $850 chair seems more or less on par with the Aeron, but its price seems to have gone up substantially.
