Just canceled our passes. No way we go before there's a vaccine available. I'm really sad about it but just hoping things are better by this time next year.

I understand. We officially pulled the plug on our DCL vacation.

    Understandable, but disappointing.

I can’t decide if I should cancel our passes. We obviously aren’t actually going, but I’m wondering if it’s worth keeping them active just to lock in the current price. If we cancel, when we get new ones we’ll no longer get the renewal discount AND I’m wondering if the prices will go up anyway to try to recoup some of their losses.

@Kimmers that was my exact thought process! I figure that the absolute earliest we will likely be going is next fall (I don’t see a vaccine being released and widely available until then, but maybe I’m wrong) and the money we would spend monthly between now and then doesn’t balance out the savings on a renewal.

I also wonder if they will offer pass holders a renewal rate within a year after they cancel as an enticement to come back.

Ah see maybe I’m wildly optimistic but I’m hoping for a vaccine sooner than that... still mulling over the passes though.

Well we get the cheapest passes anyway which block us out through the summer, so unless there was a good vaccine readily available by like, April, it still wouldn't be worth it for us since we'd likely only go once or twice before our passes were blocked out for the summer.

It will take awhile to roll out any vaccine once it is approved. I think Erie is right on timing.

Best case timeline has essential workers and the most vulnerable getting it in Spring 2021, so I agree probably fall w/ flu role out for general population use.

Yeah, my sister works in biotech education, and she's been doing a lot of reading on this. She mentioned that Merck's CEO said that vaccines take at the very least 4 years, and too many companies are trying to cut corners to get something out.

Well, fuck. So my plan to go to Disneyland for the California Adventure Food and Wine Fest 2021 is looking more like 2022 at the earliest.

Also with a brand new vaccine like this, my understanding from what I’ve read is that most people will need at least two shots - a smaller first dose to trigger the initial immune response and at least one more that will develop more of the actual antibodies (please correct me if that’s false though). Like when a baby gets the flu shot for the first time, they get two, a month or so apart, because their body has no immunity/antibodies to the flu like we do as adults or older kids even, who may have had the flu before or at least one vaccine.

So, realistically, what is the timeline? A year from this fall?

At best, yeah we are at least a year out from a vaccine that’s actually available to the public. A lot of experts have said realistically it’s more like 2+ though...

Universal just announced they're canceling Halloween Horror Nights this year. I am truly surprised, considering the fact that they're open and operating (as is Disney, SeaWorld, etc) but I'm really glad. This was the 30th anniversary and I was really bummed at missing it, but there's no way I'd be going through tight houses with strangers lol.

I'm pretty sure Halloween in general is going to be canceled this year.

I'm pretty sure you're right, even though it makes me more sad than anything else this year.

I have a wedding I'm supposed to attend that day but I'm not sure it won't have to be rescheduled (again).

I shot an elopement on Wednesday. The couple intend to have a reception in their hometown over Labor Day weekend. They've invited 500 guests. It is foolhardy optimism, to put it kindly.
