Yeah, an amazing year indeed
We had a trip planned for our anniversary. Just agreed tonight that it's time (probably well past) to cancel our accommodations. Thankfully we hadn't bought or reserved anything else yet.
J did the plague doctor mask thing. He immediately broke it with his fat head
I'm supposed to be in Venice tomorrow.
Unfortunately, the other tenants keep hosting covid parties in the garden each weekend.
So I am making risotto and eating it in bed.
J had this past weekend off so it was our first full days off together since January! Saturday we went out to a state park early in the morning to go hiking and have a picnic, it was so pretty! Then we stopped at a few breweries on the way back for new beers to bring home. We planned on getting pizza for dinner but we were so hungry we got 2 pizzas, a caprese salad and a frito misto appetizer (fried shrimp and calamari!) They also had a loaf a bread for $2 on the menu so I talked J into it to go with our stuff shells we wanted to make. OMJG it was all so good and we have a ton of leftovers! Sunday, we had cold pizza for breakfast and went to the zoo first thing. People generally had masks or stayed apart but since we were there so early it wasn't too busy until we were leaving. Then we hung out and cooked together/dinner prepped, stuffed shells and chili, so they're easy dinners this week. Once we got all of that cleaned up we started watching Shameless, we're way late to the party on this show but we liked what we've watched so far. Overall, it was such a nice weekend. We both really needed it and I wish we had more full days like this together. We're both so tired/grumpy/whatever after work we just don't get to do as many fun things.
That sounds lovely, bug. I remember my retail days, having a full weekend was such a wonderful luxury.
Yeah the last full weekend he had was probably when we took a vacation that spanned a weekend! For the most part, we were having at least 1 day a month but the guy doing their schedule is super lazy and just reposts the same schedule every week unless someone specifically requests off. There were 2 weeks, including last week, where J hasn't worked the same exact schedule since mid-February!
If I may direct you to my 2019 Halloween post
K says I jinxed it
IT WAS YOU!!!!
Speaking of, there is already Halloween candy at the grocery store, as if anyone's gonna go trick or treating this year...
Oh please, that's for us, not the kids.
I plan on trick or treating in my own pantry lol.
NGL, I poached my kid’s good Halloween candy the last 2 Halloweens. I doubt we’ll do trick-or-treating this year, but if we do I think he’s too old for me to get away with that this year.
This is the whole reason parents inspect their kids’ candy, right? It’s not stranger danger, it’s to relieve them of suspicious looking peanut butter cups.
Yeah C wasn't a big candy person last year so we got most of his candy (the chocolate at least) but this year will be different.
My parents never raided my candy, but that’s likely because they lucked out and got a kid who disliked chocolate, especially candy bars. I tithed generously in Snickers and Milky Way.
Same. There were so many candies I didnt like lol by the time I handed them over to my dad, I had probably half a stash left anyway lol (but it's fine, he used to give me all the pepperoni off his pizza. I used to think he didnt like pepperoni for a long time. But no, he just knew I liked it).
I dont really want to think about Halloween this year though. Or any holiday
My mom used to raid our candy every year. It was like her fee for driving us around so we didn't have to walk too much in the cold. We'd get back in the car and she'd be like "what did you get??" If we ever got Tootsie Rolls or Bit O Honey we knew mom was gonna take those
I wouldn't call either of those a big loss.
Yeah, your mom was being nice. That’s A&O’s dad with the pepperoni all over again.
Who risks their lives for a Chainsmokers concert?
Wandering the aisles of Target virtually is not nearly as satisfying as physically doing it. It probably is saving me a lot of money though.
I couldn't pass my covid self-assessment for work this morning.
