Awe, that is hard. It’ll get better really soon when you physically feel better though. Kids love to hear about the stuff they used to do.

The transition to two was really hard for us too, but me especially. Between the hormones in you and the changes to the dynamic and just how much of you the baby needs, it’s a lot for the older sibling. If you remember I went through a few crazy days where I legit thought I ruined our family. It will work out though <3

I’m sorry you’re feeling like that. :?: No experience here so I’m just going to offer virtual hugs. <3

Thanks. We played lots of board games today, so that was really nice bonding.

Damn it. Every time I get baby settled tonight in her bassinet (which she hates) she sharts. And of course it relieved her belly discomfort, so she’s asleep and now I have to wake her up again for a diaper change.

Ugh every time! They just relax and poop and then you have to disturb them so they don’t sit in a poopy diaper for hours.

If anyone’s wondering how my life’s going, we had a 30something man admitted overnight pretending to be 17 and then masturbating in front of nurses and it’s NOT EVEN THE FIRST TIME.

I emailed Chewy about returning 2 unopened bags of litter. I told them why I wanted to return them. I haven’t heard back yet but I checked our Chase account this morning and they gave us a refund already. I guess they want us to donate the bags which is fine. I thought it was really nice of them to refund us. They’re a good company. They sent a holiday card and a birthday card for Ben, both were hand written (it was obvious).

So I don’t have many real life friends but there are 2 whom I’ve known for years. One of them I’ve known since 9th grade and I’m really disappointed/upset with her. I posted about Ben on FB and she reacted to it but didn’t comment which wouldn’t upset me except she also didn’t reach out to me at all. Like, no text, call, DM. Nothing. She knows what he meant to me so I guess I’m just really hurt that she doesn’t care enough to reach out.

That stink Virgo. I'm sorry. I hope it's just because she feels awkward and doesn't know what to say.

I hope that’s the case but, with her, I doubt it. She hasn’t been a great friend in recent years. She’s flaky and fairly self-centered. I’ve been pretty forgiving about meetups that had to be cancelled or rescheduled but I think this was my cue to let the friendship go or at least stop putting effort into it.

On a better note, we got the tracking info for Ben’s ashes yesterday. They’re coming UPS and I assume from somewhere local so we might have them by Tuesday. UPS doesn’t have them yet, just the label was made. We’re happy to get our buddy home.

Got my first vaccine today! Then I read there’s a new study about how the 1st Pfizer shot is 92% effective after 2 weeks. I’m really hoping experts decide to delay the 2nd shot if that’s the case. I know this is Yahoo news but there’s a link to the study in the article: Pfizer vaccine

Are you going back to school this year? We apparently don’t even have enough to vaccinate teachers yet and our district is one of two in the state about to decide to do the whole year virtual.

Our superintendent is adamant that we are not going back but the state wants schools to reopen so I don’t even know at this point. I’m ok going back after getting fully vaccinated but it will suck teaching with a mask on. I’m really hoping the new info about the 1st dose of vaccine is accurate because then they can hold off on the 2nd dose and use it to give people a first dose. It would get more people vaccinated quickly.

Unsolicited advice from an internet stranger, but absolutely get your second dose without too much delay. You will benefit from the booster dose, which will elicit a complete immune response. The percentage of the population vaccinated has to taken into consideration also, when taking about efficacy %. The US is only around 11% vaccinated right now, which is far below what is recommended for a pandemic (caveat: this is not considering other mitigation strategies like social distancing, but still). If you're feeling guilty about being seen as "cutting in line" by getting a second dose? Well, the second dose is included when distribution/allotment is calculated, so that second dose is already allotted for you. (ETA: I forgot to add that the vaccine isn't indicated for a single dose, so no health care provider is going to give your second dose to someone else even if you ask, since that is off label use)

    In conclusion: GET STABBED!

I do have my appointment already made because they did it at the same time I made the first appointment. I won't be cancelling unless experts decide to have the second shot delayed but I really hope they decide that. I know a few people who got sick from the second shot and it's freaking me out. I know that's just my anxiety talking though.

My anecdotal experience has been people who do develop reaction-related events tend to be in the older group (think 65 and older), but they've all been self limiting and all resolved without further medical intervention. So who knows, you might not feel a thing, except the needle stab!

J got the Moderna vaccine but he actually felt worse after the first shot vs. the second. And it was super mild sleepy and a little achy after the first one. I know several other people that had mild to no reactions so don’t psyche yourself out when the minority reactions make the news.

Thank you guys! I try not to pay attention to it because I know how I get but sometimes info leaks through. The more I hear about people not having any side effects, the better I’ll feel.

P is scheduled for his first shot later today at the Coliseum. I want to cry with relief because most of my covid worry is about him getting sick.

My arm was sore for a couple of days after the second one, but that was about it. Most of my program was completely fine! I know a couple of people felt a bit like crap and took a day off, but nothing more serious.
