Thank you @Lh718!
I'm on zoom for an afternoon conference. P is across the table from me with his classes and office hours. Once again, I am struck with how ridiculous our (global) normal is anymore. My sympathies to all of you that have to juggle this crap daily.
My Pixel 2 is finally crapping out on me. I think it’s 3 years old? or maybe 4? I have no idea. It won’t charge and makes the notification sound that it’s trying to charge. Ryan got it to charge this morning but he had to have the cord at just the right angle and then not touch it. I want another one and I’m bummed that none of the current models have exactly what I want. I went with the 4a because it’s just missing the water resistant part and that’s not as big a deal. It didn’t come in white though.
Yay new phone though @virgo ! I was considering a pixel as my next one, but I also want to keep this phone until Samsung no longer supports it, lol.
Lol I’m usually excited to get a new phone but I love this one so much and don’t want something different. Oh well. The 4a is pretty close to this one. I just wish it came in white. I am excited for more camera features though!
So while running errands today I quickly grabbed a bag of cheesy poofs on my way out, before I could convince myself I don't need them. So just now I was like "hell yeah cheesy poofs" and went to get them and let me tell you this is an enormous fucking bag. I didn't even realize. This could serve 20 people. And here's me alone in bed eating cheesy poofs out of a bag as big as my pillow.
Fuck I miss cheese balls.
I am pretty sure it is not real cheese, luckily for me. And for you, since I have enough for you and your entire extended family to share
Trust I’ve checked. It is dairy based.
It seems like at best a brief acquaintance. Like maybe it saw dairy once and got a little frisky.
One time is all it takes! Ask my new sister.
My city uses See Click Fix as a way for people to report things like potholes, illegal dumping, etc. People have started using it for really dumb shit. I get notifications because of something I reported and I want to stop getting them but at the same time I don’t because some are so ridiculous that it makes me laugh. I just got one because someone reported an election sign illegally put up at their corner. Really? Is it really that big of a deal that you need to report it to this site? I mean, if it’s on this person’s lawn, they could just throw it away. See Click Fix is almost as funny as the shit on Nextdoor.
A brewery near us does a beer series called Morbidly Obese Pug and they released a new variant for National Pug day which was yesterday. They are doing a tap takeover and glass giveaway near us today and the glass has all these fat pugs on it so I'm making J go with me so we can get the glasses. He just text me "Today, we celebrate fat puppies!" Which honestly, we should do every day and was exactly what I was thinking about while making coffee this morning. How can you not want this cup? Since they did "virtual pug day" it's all pugs not being good a zoom meetings
In a last ditch effort to try and keep our apartment at a reasonable temperature in hot temps and in winter, we ordered bubble insulation to put on the wall. Only the bottom half of the longest wall gets full sun all day so I just wanted to cover that (it gets 90+ degrees and all that radiates in during heat waves). I got a 4ft high roll that is white on one side. It was supposed to be 25ft long but Amazon sent 10ft (they gave us a refund and said to keep the product). We put it up and it has a unique texture that I wasn’t expecting. It doesn’t look like bubble insulation at all. It’s almost a lizard or alligator skin texture and it’s shiny. I needed more than 10 ft so I ordered directly from the company. It came Friday and the white side is matte and looks like bubble wrap. I’m so sad. I emailed the company and sent pics of what we have to see if they have more of it. I told them I know it’s a weird request because normally, nobody gives a shit what it looks like. Fingers crossed they have some. If not, we’ll put up the stuff that looks like bubble wrap.
I will say that it seems to be working. We had actual bubble wrap from trying to insulate the big ass window (we were desperate) so we put that on the remaining wall until the order came Friday. The bubble wrap is still up so the whole bottom half of the wall is covered in some sort of insulation. It made a small difference during he heat waves but it’s making a huge difference with the cold temps. It was 57 outside when I got up this morning and 66 inside. The heat hadn’t come on yet so that means the apartment retained all that heat overnight. Yay! Hopefully it’s not a fluke and it works when it gets even colder.
Pics for a good laugh:
It’s the large size bubbles. We haphazardly put it up with push pins.
It kinda looks like textured wall paper.
Now get some acrylics and paint a mural on it!
I am so not a good artist!
If not, maybe some fun vinyl stickers?
Man, now I’m down a wall sticker rabbit hole and some of them are so stinking cute
Forgot to update- the owner of the company was really nice and is sending me a 20ft roll for free. I don’t know if it’s going to have the same texture (I’m pretty sure he understood what I wanted since I sent pics) but it’s free so I don’t care. We’re planning a long distance move in about a year and half so we’re going to keep the extra to use as cushion for breakables. Lol
Dude that is clever @virgo ! Imma steal it for our Hayward bedroom.
I forget - where are y'all moving? Buffalo with the ILs?
Not Buffalo! I don’t even want to visit there again. Lol We’re going to move to Encinitas or somewhere close to it. I know it’s not that long of a distance but the farthest we’ve ever moved was SF to Alameda.
I’m participating in an industry virtual event and Katie Sowers, the offensive coach for the SF 49ers, is the keynote speaker!
I’ve long suspected that I’m allergic to Ben but being home 24/7 has confirmed it for me. I’ve been 24/7 congested/mucus-y for years. I honestly can’t remember when it started but I definitely remember it going on in our last apartment. We’d had Ben for about 1 1/2 years when we moved into that place. It’s gotten worse since being home which is why I’m 99% convinced it’s an allergy. Does anyone take allergy meds because of an allergy to pets? I don’t even know which one would be best. I spoil the shit out of him and this is the thanks I get.
A friend of mine is allergic to all furry animals and lives with 2 or 3 cats. She just takes Zyrtec-D (I think) everyday.
Me! Zyrtec or Xyzal. And allergy nasal spray like Flonase or something. I know it’s unpleasant to put shit up your nose, but nasal spray is really key.
