Who measures pepper? Grind over food until adequately speckled.

But I do know it's 20 cranks on my pepper mill for one teaspoonful. I had to know for science.

It was my birthday this weekend, and MIL gave me a printout of a New Yorker heirloom bean article, a dozen varieties of heirloom beans, an heirloom bean cookbook, and…a 7 quart Le Creuset Dutch oven. It’s in cobalt to match the braiser she gave me a few months ago. It was unexpected on many levels.

I do really like beans, but wouldn’t consider myself a bean connoisseur or particularly passionate about them. I feel, however, that it would be criminal to not go all-in on the bean train when the woman who gave me two Le Creusets wants me to.

Tonight we had Christmas Lima Beans. Next year if you ask me about esoteric bean varieties, I hope to have the answer.

I just discovered we don't have a coffee thread, but this includes a recipe anyway so next time.

Have any of you tried Banana (Milk) Coffee?
Per the article date, it's not new, but I just today even heard of it.

I didn’t start baking until a few months ago, and I do it very little, but I would like to start baking more. I’d especially like to do this as a bonding thing with Fry. I currently own a basic hand mixer. I’m considering either upgrading to a hand mixer with dough hook options, or wondering if it would be worth it to splurge on a stand mixer. I do have limited space. Advice?

You can get a refurbished kitchenaid on their site pretty reasonably priced. I would just get a good one, it makes everything so much easier. And the double sided scraper blade.
I keep mine tucked in the corner of the kitchen counter with a cover on it.
