Thanks for the suggestions! We ended up ordering a Cozy Coupe and a kids Adirondack chair for him. I put a couple of other things that were suggested on his Amazon wishlist as ideas for the people who have asked.
Z's 30th birthday and our 1st anniversary are next month, two days apart. He also has his graduation in late May. We'd been planning on a weekend trip for the anniversary/birthday and a family party for our graduations, all of which is clearly not happening. Thoughts on how to make it special? I'm going to set up a Zoom birthday call with his friends and streamers and balloons and such, but since we can't really do the "experience" gift, maybe something he can have fun with while sticking around home? Tl;dr: Help buy things for husband
What sort of things is he into? I know you guys got the Lego Hogwarts for your wedding. Maybe a different fancy Lego set?
A year or two ago I got “D” a cast iron pan, tortilla press, and a basket of taco making supplies (masa, salsa, etc). Anyway - it was fun to learn to make them together and also get to eat them. So I’d say some kind of gadget or the ingredients for a meal with an online cooking class. 1st anniversary is clocks or paper. You can get the guts and make your own clock together. Or some kind of paper craft that you can decorate the house with? Or gift certificates for a nice dinner, you know, later.
He loves sports - he and his friends have been doing a weekly Zoom where they watch old games and chat, which is fun. He plays video games, but tends more towards story-style and sports games, not shooty mcshooterton. He reads, more nonfiction and science fiction than I do. He really did enjoy building a model of the Real Madrid stadium we got, so maybe something buildable would be fun.
@CoolWife I love the idea for cooking classes! A good friend of mine is offering virtual bar tending or cooking classes so if anyone is really into this idea hit me up if you’d like me to put you in touch with her. She’s super nice and funny and can for sure help you with cooking and/or mixology based on whatever you have on hand.
We have been doing a puzzle together which is really fun. They sell awesome ones, maybe you could do a really cool one from somewhere you've been together (was it Vietnam?) then mat and frame it as art for your new house?
Do you already have wedding/family pictures framed? That’s got glass. Need a new (leather) recliner? Matching handbag for you and wallet for him? A nice crystal serving bowl or vase.
W got me a leather strappy key ring that has the coordinates of where we got married. I got him some leather coasters, with wedding date and I think also coordinates We must have read the same article about ideas for 3rd anniversary.
We don't even have wedding pics printed other than in a photo book. So that could work if I can figure out what to do with that. I'm shit at home decor and C is even worse. I could use a new wallet but he says his is fine, of course. That would be so much easier.
@Honey that's the exact sort of thing we've been doing, but we don't need any new furniture or I would be all over that. I'm borderline considering just calling our new fridge we got 2 months ago an anniversary gift. It has glass shelves.
Z got a leather-bound book done for our guest book by a local dude and it's gorgeous. Something like that for a photo album would be lovely!
What kind of 12 are they? When I was 12 I only wanted books and art supplies but I had friends who only wanted makeup and clothes.
