We've got a few automobile and motorsport enthusiasts here, and a few threads have turned to vehicle discussion recently. I thought a dedicated thread might be nice. So for the gear-headed girls, what do you drive, and what's in the dream garage in your mind?

I just got a car at the very end of July after being car-less since I moved here in February. Oh my, it's lovely. I had a Suzuki Grand Vitara in the States. Suzuki isn't my favourite, but I liked having a compact SUV.

After getting hired and moving to our current place, I started looking for another compact SUV. I came across the Toyota RAV4 and fell in love. I like Toyota, and the early 2000s 3 door RAV4 was so stinkin' adorable. I got mine used from a small at-home dealer who had it sitting for a while, so I was able to get a good price. It drives well, keeps me seated up high where I like it, and is still small enough to fit on these tiny roads and in the tiny parking spots.

I think I'll always stick with a compact crossover SUV. And I like Honda and Toyota best. They're sturdy.

I'm in my first crossover now, a 2014 Jeep Compass. It's also my first naturally aspirated 4-cylinder, and I have to say, getting decent gas mileage does not suck!

I have a Mazda 3. It was the car I bought myself right after college and it's well loved but... next car will be a Subaru sedan. I'm sick of not having all-wheel drive in New England.

I don't have a ton to contribute, but I can basically e-fellate my husband in this thread. He can and does restore cars. His day job is working on the Viper, prototypes, show cars and currently the Hellcat.

If anyone curr, I can muster up some pix.

I would like that very much. I'm always happy to ogle some American muscle.

That reminds me that I have a few pics to edit from a classic car show we had here a couple weeks ago. It wasn't a great turnout, though. They had a parade the night before the show with about 650 cars, and I swear half were Mustangs.

Vipers he did for the rich folks

Deet, that silver viper has me drooling ...

I just got Subaru Legacy last December. I was hoping to wait and save up some more to do some serious car shopping but my old Suzuki decided to kick the bucket sooner than expected. I'm just happy to have a reliable car that doesn't have parts falling off of it constantly.

My motorcycle on the other hand...I loooooooove :)

Is he at CTC? D has been up there all week while I've been at CPG.
I have a MINI Cooper S. It's adorable and super fun to drive and I want to sell it. I've been driving an STI that's a couple years old and I'm not whelmed. I thought it would be quicker. The big wang is hilarious, I see it in the mirror all the time and it fucks with me.
I got to drive a Tesla Model S for a few minutes and I want one so bad, it's so cool. So so much torque that never quits.

Deet, those are ridiculously gorgeous cars! S does amazing work.

Right now we have a Jeep Liberty but are looking for a newer replacement. The Liberty has awful fuel mileage, and one of the speakers has blown out and makes a rattling sound. Also, there have been two recall notices to get things fixed/replaced in the last year, so that's a bit worrying. But other than those issues, I really like it. It's super comfortable, the way the back seats fold we've been able to move a ton of stuff, and having 4-wheel drive available is nice in the winters. We're mainly considering the Subaru Forrester, VW Tiguan, and Mazda CX-5.

My baby is my Suzuki GSX-R600. It's not really great in bad weather though, so in the Pacific northwest that means I only have it insured for 4-5 months out of the year. AwPigley, what kind of bike do you have? We should start a chicken bike gang!

Patrick got a new-ish 2013 Ford Escape in Jan (it only had like 8k miles on it). I have a 2011 Ford Fiesta. We love them both.

It gets a lot of attention. He's going to work on a Corrado (sp?) next.

    He's also a modeler:

Basically, I have a lot of car shit to share.

I'm insane. I live in the frozen north, and bought the only Subaru without AWD :) But that's what Blizzak tires and a couple hundred pounds of weight in the trunk are for. I liked the WRX, but too many doors. I can't deal with 4d vehicles.

Car I'd like to have (under 100k): Alfa Romeo. It's adorable.

I didn't even know that Subaru made anything without AWD these days. Is it RWD? The car I had before my Jeep was, and it was pretty terrible in Montana. I did the same and kept about 200lbs in the back.

My all-time dream car is fairly attainable: 1959 Cadillac Eldorado.

I'd also like an E39 BMW M5, for going fast. I still think this car is, to quote Car & Driver, "the most desirable sedan on the planet."
