There are so many Thomases, Elizabeths, Marys, and Henrys, man
Love both these names!
Voting for Arlo! Arlo & Olivia are our top two names for girl #2. We have zero boys names that we both like. Just absolutely hate each other’s picks for boys haha.
J hates 99% of boy names. He was on board with the majority of girl names I threw out but boys was a different story entirely.
I liked Maren for a girl too but N is a hard no on M names because of our last name. And in general there aren’t many boys names I love. I like Arthur but N really hates it. It’s tough.... there are like 6 girls names I really love but we’ve only got max one more girl so I need to start falling in love with boy’s names.
Arlo is a good name for boys.
@Kimmers I love Maren.
I can’t convince N on Maya, Penelope, or my favorite, Norah.
Arlo is a girl name?
I would name a girl Rosalind in a second but Z is not into it.
He will accept Eleanor and Evangeline tho so.
Ooo I like Rosalind!
@scotchbutter what does it say about my uncultured swine self that Franklin makes me think of the turtle before the president?
@whatchyagonnado I see Eleanor and Theodore and see Chipmunks. You’re not alone!
(For the record, Theodore was in our top two list for boys names. Eleanor is a great name, but I happen to know someone with it who wasn’t the nicest person, which is the only reason why it wasn’t a contender.)
@RoryGilmore Look, by the end, she deserved to be in the Good Place.
HMMMM, maybe I can use Arlo for a boy and Olivia for a girl thus squeezing in both top girl names...
I only know one Arlo, it's a guy, I hadn't heard it used for a girl before.
@Kimmers if it helps, I also definitely thought Arlo was more common for boys!
How I came across the name is that I saw an article about Leighton Meester expecting baby #2 and it said she named her first daughter Arlo. I just immediately really liked the name. Didn’t realize it’s typically a boys name!
She’s just copying Blake. I love gender-flipped names.
Me: Arlo for a boy
Me: You don’t like it for a boy?
N: I don’t like it at all
Me: ?? You literally just said you loved it, like a week ago??
N: No. There’s one boys name we do like. Someone famous we both like named their kid something...
Me: YES, Leighton Meester, it was Arlo.
N: Oh yeah. Actually yeah it’s not bad.
Just smother him with a pillow now
RIP, N. You had a good run.
Sometimes I swear they just choose to be difficult for no reason
We are the exact opposite. We have a girl name picked out and several back up girl names.
Boy names though. I feel like I dislike everything and even the few that I think are okay they just don't feel right.
give me girl name ideas! Boys we really like Elliott or Benjamin/Adam as backups.
What sort of girl names do you like and does he like?
