We used to have a thread like this on our old board, and I thought maybe we could use another one. Lots of newcomers have stopped in to this forum, and some have told us a bit about themselves, but most just stop in to say hi. I'd like to get to know everyone a little better, and give everyone else an opportunity to do the same if they're interested.

I'm Honey, I'm 28, and my husband D and I are responsible for keeping the lights on around here. We live in Montana after relocating here from New Jersey just over two years ago.

D and I met online in 2004 and started dating long-distance in 2005. We are both gigantic cinephiles and met on a message board for film fans. We visited back and forth a couple times, but he's ultimately the reason I moved to New Jersey. We were in Jersey for a while (six years for me, seven for him), but before that I grew up in California, and my grandparents were instrumental in raising me because my parents are kind of fuckups. I have one brother and one sister.

We came to Montana when D's company offered him a new position out here, which he tried hard to get because we both desperately wanted to try a new place. It was a good decision, and I think we both feel pretty at home here. We were engaged forever, but only just tied the knot last November. Our whole approach to dating and marriage was pretty casual. We've been together for so long that nothing really feels different to me. The wedding was fun, though. We had it in Disney World. I still don't have photos back from my photographer, but I'll show them to you guys sometime after I get them.

I'm a bookkeeper/EA for a company that designs and imports stuffed animals. It is absolutely as cute as it sounds. Even though it's all about sales numbers and whatnot, my spreadsheets are essentially about teddy bears, and that makes life fun.

Aside from movies, I enjoy reading, photography and cooking. I listen to nearly every genre of music. I'm a Disney nut, and enjoy all kinds of animation. Color makes me happy. Like, the more the merrier. I love cars even though I don't drive a fun one. I collect blown glass, movie posters, and vintage liquor advertisements. I've been a custom art framer for a number of years and would love to run my own frame shop someday. It would be a dream to partner with some good photographers and have a frame shop/gallery/portrait studio. Maybe it will happen one day. I also think it would be amazing to live on a Christmas tree farm, and D and I often dream about retiring to somewhere in the Sierra Nevadas where we could do just that.

So, what about you? Who are you really, and what were you before? What did you do and what did you think, huh?

Oh, I love these kinds of threads. A lot of you will probably know most of this already.

I'm 38 years old & live in Georgia. Other than a brief relocation to Arkansas (which my mom thought would be "fun") from ages 6 to 8, I have lived here all of my life.

My rooster and I also met online and dated long-distance from 2005 to 2009, when he moved here to the States from England and we got married. In the four years that we dated, I visited him once a year and he visited me every three months. The first time I went to see him was also the first time I had ever left the country, and was even the first time I had ever set foot on a plane.

I am a bookkeeper & team leader at an accounting firm. I pretty much love my job because the people that I work for are great and there are tons of perks. However, I would leave it all in a heartbeat if I won the lottery, so I could pursue my desire to be a full-time humanitarian. I want to feed people & pets in need, give them all good homes, make a great education available to them, and just spend my life making the world a better place in general. In addition to that, I would like to have an alpaca/goat farm for myself. That's all I want for me.

I love to read and I love to watch movies, but I'm no longer allowed to call myself a movie freak. I watch a lot of TV shows, but some of my favorites are Survivor, Community, and The Goldbergs. I am also a HUGE Firefly fan and will defend it to the death. I love to bake and I eat a lot of cake. I love all kinds of music, but I lean more towards folk, bluegrass, and alternative rock. I just recently started Crossfit, which I love, but I am in pain most of the time from it. I am trying to learn to love running, and I just recently cut a whole minute off of my mile time. And today I walked eight miles for our local breast cancer research & awareness organization. All of the proceeds go to funding free mammograms for anyone that needs one and can't afford it.

No, we haven't, and I'm afraid to. I hate what happened with Wash in Serenity so I kind of don't want anything to spoil anything else that I loved about the series. I might eventually be emotionally able to handle it, but not right now.

Yeah, then maybe don't. Have you read A Shepherd's Tale? Do read that.

I too love these thread because I’m nosy as fuck.

I’m 27, and I live in CT with my fiancé, M, and our baby dog, Blanche. We have lived here almost 2 years. We moved from the DC area so that M could go to school for his PhD, and he still has another 2 years to go in his program. We are currently long-distance planning our September wedding, which will be in southern VA (where I grew up).

CT is the only other state I’ve lived in besides VA. I don’t especially love it, but I’ve made peace with living here. I’ve made some friends, and I have a mindless job that allows me to have zero stress. I work in the billing department of a pathology lab, and I basically process insurance payments/rejections all the livelong day. I previously worked as support staff in patent law, and while the money was great, the stress and the pressure were a bitch and a half to deal with. The worst part about living here is being so far from my family and friends – I am especially close to my parents and sister, as well as a few cousins. I live 5-16 hour drives from most of them, and it’s a little hard not being able to see them.

My favorite thing to do is eat, and by extension, cook. I love trying new foods, and so does M. I’m always searching for new recipes to try, which most of you have noticed by my frequent food posts. I also enjoy baking, but I don’t do as much these days because I don’t have anyone to really pawn it off on. M and I are huge NFL fans, and our team is the Redskins. We get really into football season, and both play fantasy football. As far as girly things, I love nail polish, dresses and Kate Spade anything (though I’m usually too broke to buy that stuff).

M and I aren't really sure where we want to end up after he's done with school, but we are hoping to go back down south to be closer to family. We both are eager to settle down and buy a house, preferably in a more rural area because we are grumpy hermits.

I know what you mean about being so far away from family, sweatermuffins. I don't necessarily want to be right in their back yard, but ideally I'd like to live in a city near a hub airport so that it wouldn't cost me a goddamn arm just to visit home when I want to.

Oh I'll play! I haven't done the 5 things thread because I can't think of 5 things, haha.

I'm 33 and currently live in SoCal with my P, my husband. He got a new job up north, and we'll be moving to the Bay Area sometime in late summer. He and I are big into sports and most especially college football. We actually met over 10 years ago in a now-dead college sports chat room and have been buds for most of that time but didn't really get close until three years ago. This is my second marriage, and strangely the second wedding was more tougher to plan than the first.

California is the fourth state where I've lived. I was born in the Philippines, and my family moved to Texas when I was 7. In fact, we just celebrated our 26th moving anniversary a couple of weeks ago. I lived in Ohio for a couple of years for grad school then moved to the Maryland side of the DC area for a job. After a few years there, my then husband and I moved to Toronto, which is where he grew up, to be closer to his family. That was kind of a mistake for us, but oh well. I moved here to be with my now husband, and the rest is history (or the future however you want to think about it).

I'm back in school with the goal of getting into a nursing program for summer or fall 2015. The move might push that another year unless I'm 1) super lucky with registration at the new school after moving or 2) willing to live apart from P next fall to stay in my current school where I have priority registration and an in with the professor of the one class I have left to finish my prerequisites.

Aside from long walks on the beach and sunsets, I also love reading, eating, wine, animals. watching TV (Gilmore Girls forever), chocolate, science, and sports. I've been slowly getting into running and am surprised at how much I enjoy it.

M was born and raised on the Maryland side of DC, Lh!

And I'm a huge homebody as well, HBC.

I enjoyed my time there quite a bit, Muffins. Our apartment was just down the street from the DC/MD border, and I always got a kick from knowing walked my dog in two states/territories every day.

HBC, we're both homebodies here as well. We like to venture out on occasion, but our favorite thing to do is be home together.

sweatermuffins I puffy heart ksny as well! Her sample sales kill me.

Lh you have been quite a few places! I hail from Ohio (moved around from Illinois to Cincinnati to Pittsburgh to cinci again then to two different burbs in Columbus where I mostly grew up). Not big on college football, just ~my~ team

I'm 25 and work as a legal drug dealer, as mentioned in my intro thread. S is one as well and we met during professional school.

I've definitely become more of a homebody since moving down here with S. Prob has to do with the fact that we live in BFE. There are things I miss about the city but I'm getting more used to living out in the country (the biggest plus is the lack of traffic as I do get rather feisty around bad/slow drivers). We've pretty much been an old couple since we started seriously dating, we're both pretty laid back and also enjoy visiting antique shops lol.

I've been bugging S for a dog ever since we moved in together (after graduation last year) but he says we can't while we are still in an apartment without a yard and also he doesn't think I can take care of one. I desperately want a corgi and/or golden retriever (hopefully both at some point in life, obviously just one at this moment in our lives). He hates corgis though and despises their cute stubby legs.

I’m 34 and live in the SF bay area with my husband R and our cat Ben. I met R when I started my current job 6 1/2 years ago because I went into his Starbucks every morning for a latte. We started dating about 5 months later. He’s almost 7 years younger than me so he was only 21 when we started dating. I felt like a huge cradle robber then but now it’s not a big deal.

I bounced around to different jobs during and after college. The 2 that were my favorite were working at a vet and working at an alternative rock radio station. Now I have a boring office job as the Jill of all trades at a law firm. I’m going to go back to school in the fall to get my teaching credential. I got my BA in early childhood education but never did my 5th year (a stupid California thing to get a credential instead of incorporating it into the 4 year degree). Right now, I’m just waiting to hear if I got in.

I’m a really boring person. I don’t know what happened to me because I used to be a party girl. I went clubbing with my BF every weekend. She still goes out and I’m always like “Nah, I don’t feel like it”. I guess I got it out of my system. I’m starting to get into drinking wine but I still prefer beer. I like mimosas, diner breakfasts, cake, cake, did I mention cake? I used to love cooking and baking but our apartment kitchen has a really sucky layout which makes it not so fun to cook/bake. I like watching trashy reality shows like RHoBH, OC and Atlanta. I also watch reruns of NCIS all the time.

yo yo. I'm 29? Wait no 28. *finger counting* yes, 28. Phew. I've sort of lived all over - born in the Chicago area and moved away at age 7, lived in the Philadelphia area until I was 15, and then moved to Houston TX. I went to college in San Antonio, then ended up in Dallas for a job. But now I'm currently living in Knoxville, TN with my husband and my sweet dog who I treat as a human child. I work from home at a digital advertising agency where I basically work on 2 monitors all day in my pjs or a lot of times just no pants at all. You can thank me for providing you with ads on the websites you view. I don't design them, I just do all the number crunching to bring them to you. :) I love my job because it doesn't require me to speak with clients, but it keeps me just a little bit too busy sometimes and so I'm still working with my boss to find the right balance.

Anyway, we aren't from Knoxville. We moved here in Oct 2012 when my husband got a job offer we couldn't turn down. And while the increased paycheck has been awesome, I wouldn't say we are loving it here. He likes it better than I do, but I'm just trying to cope. We've made a few friends (mostly people from his job) so it's not the worst thing in the world, it's just not ideal. We are hoping to relocate to a larger city in a couple years.

Before Knoxville, we were living in Dallas, TX. We got married there in June 2012 after dating for almost 9 years. We met in high school math class, but we didn't start dating until I had left for college. He's a year younger than me so he was still in high school and we did long distance from 2003 - 2010.

I like hiking, barre classes, wine, cake (and baking cakes), cheese... ok food in general. I run sometimes, but it's still a love/hate relationship. I like Teen Mom (but I'm way behind on the show). My husband and I just caught up on HIMYM. We are hoping to travel more before we have a kid in the next 3 or so years. Seattle this summer and we are planning 1 more big out of the country trip - Europe TBD.

Hi! I'll be 23 for a few more days and I have lived in Alabama my entire life, although I'm hoping we can get away from here at some point. I've moved around a bit, but never outside of a 2 hour drive from my hometown. J and I met in high school when we sat next to each other in AP English, and while we were friends, the romance didn't blossom until the year after we graduated. We started dating in 2009 and just recently got married on March 15. J moved to our current city about 3 years ago and I moved here about 2 years ago. We have two dogs that are our kids, and two cats who merely tolerate our existence and allow us to live in the house.

J is a department manager for a major retail store, but he's certified to be a welder and hopes to get a job doing what he loves soon. I am currently unemployed but seeking work. I'm taking my pharmacy tech certification next month with the hopes that I can find a job and be a productive member of society. I started a bachelor's degree in Biology with a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology, never got to finish it, but it's on my list of goals for myself.

I love reading, making lists, cooking, good food, and Netflix. We watch a lot of Supernatural, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead, and Doctor Who. I like reading books about Ebola and smallpox for fun and J thinks I'm weird. An interesting (maybe) fact about me is I can start and finish a book in one day. I read one Harry Potter book each day for 7 days leading up to the last movie premier.

We are both pretty boring people who much prefer staying in, cuddling with each other and/or the dogs, to going out on the town.

I love making lists too! I also LOVE spreadsheets. My boss thinks it's some kind of mental illness, but I know she appreciates that about me.
