    Do we have a houseplant thread?
    My plants are so happy now that I’ve been able to give them proper attention lol

    Any other plant lovers here?

    I haven’t been able to dedicate as much time to gardening as I’d like to, but I do love gardening. Currently my houseplants are the only ones getting attention. I have Christmas cacti, a peace lily, a couple orchids, and an Aerogarden with lettuces and a few herbs. I’m really loving the Aerogarden.

    I used to have a some planted tanks were really pleasant to zone out and watch, but they were too high maintenance to bother with while having a tot, dog, and house. Someday I’d like to set a big one up again.

    This thread reminds me I should fertilize the orchids and do some repotting soon.

    I'm sad that my plants in Hayward are probably dead by now. We're making a quick trip up there next weekend for supplies, and I'm gonna grab a few pots to try and bring back.

    I do have one spider plant here that loves its window and is growing tons of babies!

    My orchids all need new pots. I need to order some grower pots to do it. But my other plants are pretty happy right now, even though I’m not here that much. My monstera is getting big new leaves and it’s so pretty. I brought a hibiscus in last fall and it’s growing new baby leaves now - I really hope it blooms again cause it’s super pretty.
    I actually got some fertilizer spikes for most of my inside plants and they seem to like them.
    I have a string of pearls in a hanging pot. It got neglected while I was in the hospital and a lot of it was looking pretty bad. Last week I finally pulled out the vines that looked like they wouldn’t make it or were clearly dead. I forgot that I tossed them on the side of the ponytail palm’s pot. Well, they were not dead and have started to root there. Oops but yay.

    I have only recently adopted a few house plants. I have an aloe and 2 succulents. And I believe a Congo Rojo philodendron. Right before NY started the shut down, J was leaving work and someone had set down several plants on the sidewalk with a sign that said theyre in need of TLC and a new home. J took a goofy looking cactus for himself at work, and I took the philodendron (without knowing what it was). It seems to be doing ok-ish? It hasnt died. It came to me with brown spots on the leaves, and some kind of torn. But it doesn't seem to be getting worse so there's that. My succulents are doing well. I just bought them from Walmart early March. The aloe from Walmart too. I feel like it could be doing better. Any aloe care tips?

    I’m a big houseplant enthusiast and sell a portion of my rarer plant cuttings because I have too many for my home.

    Get several different kinds and declare the ones that survive after a month worthy. If they can’t survive minimal care you don’t need that kind of negativity in your life anyways.

    @moose start off with the easy ones like peace lily and spider plants. They are very forgiving.

    @Basil ooo like what? I'd love to get into rarer plants.

    Lol my peace lily is such a temperamental bitch. And I’ve def killed succulents. They need a ton of light to be happy.

    @Lh718 I have a large selection of rare philodendrons (pink princess, jose buono, birkin, ghost), albo and thai constellation monstera, but recently into anthruiums and rhaphidorphoras. My decursiva and ghost at the moment are my babies. I'm willing to send cuttings of normal or rare plants as summer approaches and my collect grows to almost 200 plants.

    That is super awesome. I wish I had more space for plants inside. But with kids and cats, I have to make sure theyre out of reach (and still have enough light. So you can imagine how limited my options are...)

    @Basil i have most you’ve mentioned! Except the albo monstera because I can’t bring myself to pay $100 for a clipping or $400 for a baby lol

    And I’m also currently searching for a pilodendron Florida ghost buy haven’t had any luck :sad:

    @HBC @CoolWife
    do you guys have them in enough light? Also if you have hard water minerals will build in the soil and just slowly kill your plant. You can combat this by flushing the soil every no and then. Just stick it in your shower and completely soak it so the soil flushes.

    @Pickles my florida ghost is growing very slowly. hopefully it picks up this summer but my albo is doing well I could probably send a cutting this summer once it puts out a few more leaves.

    I definitely don’t have enough good indoor light. Oh well, I just focus on my outdoor plants.

  22. Pickles

    Pickles Chicken

    @Basil i would love that!
    do you absolutely love your Florida Ghost? I just think they’re so cool!

    Currently, my mama Pilea is my favorite plant even though she’s less rare. She’s an absolute beast and I love her.

    @Pickles I love it more than I thought. It was an impulse purchase but i check it out throughout the day. Other than some of my unique ones my favorite is my Calathea orbifolia, which is mainly my cat's favorite nap spot. I get a lot of joy out of them but I will probably be downsizing my collection when I move next year.

    If anyone needs help with houseplant pest issues let me know....this is actually a portion of my professional work.

    I’ve been working on only buying plants i really love or are the more rare ones, recently. 200 plants is wild! You win the Urban Jungle thread lol.

    It barely gets enough light but D hates it so it has to live in the bathroom instead of the living room. Imma repot it and move it soon.
