This is one of my biggest hesitations about potentially moving to a house (second, after losing my walking commute). I haven't had to do any major car brushing for 9 years!

@Lucyinthesky might be able to give more insight. My shoe size is a bit of a question mark since having A. I was a 9 before and now I'm a 9.5-10. I tried on a 9 in the suede Snowy Owl in store and they were good, but need a 10 in the leather ones I have. My moccasins from there are also a 9. You want them to be snug but not scrunched up toes. They offer free returns if they don't fit and they seem to get orders out quickly.

Damn, I should probably find them in store since my feet have changed too. Thanks, kids. How about the calf width, roomy or snug? Do you have the half or full?

Quarks carries them! I bought the half. I have wider calves and no issues. Maybe would in the tall but I never tried those on.

I have wider calfs too, so good to know! I just checked and they actually have a pop-up shop at my mall right now so maybe I'll check them out later then and order online to get the discount

Ok now I want a pair too! Do you find the half height is tall enough, @Zoomzoom?

I need a half size  Whyyyyyyyyyyyy.

    I did find G boots though :)

I just did a whole bunch of crazy measuring against my leg and other boots lol. The half is an inch shorter than my Sorels and I find they get snow kicked up into them sometimes, so I’m going to try the full height

@megatron I haven't worn them through a whole winter yet but my old everyday winter boots were a bit lower and were okay. I'm just using these as day to day running around boots and wanted them to be really easy to slip on/off with A. I'll probably end up buying a tall pair for more heavy snow usage if they'll fit my calves.

@deet might be worth a shot still! They are expected to stretch and kinda mold to your foot. For the suede I'd probably round down and leather round up would be my guess.

I'm on the hunt for some warm booties or something. I need something for when it's cold but not snowing (I have snowboots already, but they are too much boot for daily wear). Lined would be great because kids have outdoor recess and also because long bus waits. I've been on the hunt for 2 years now and still havent found anything I LOVE.

I love my lined Doc Marten booties. But they are a bit clunky.

Update for those wondering about sizing in the tall option:

I tried on the leather Tamarack, and my calves are just about exactly 16” when I measured, which is what they say their boot circumference is. I was wearing jeans and relatively thicker socks and they fit perfectly, not too snug whatsoever. I’m a pretty true 7 and found one pair was slightly snug narrow wise in the toes but the second pair (which were the same boot, just a different colour) seemed a little wider. The associate told me they will stretch a bit so if you’re a half size to go down, and told me to stick with the 7. They are SO comfortable.

Hmmm the question is - would I want the full or half height?

I think if you’re mainly using them for running errands, around town etc the half size would be perfect. We do a lot of big walks through deep snow at the park, playing in the back yard, that sort of thing and I find snow gets kicked up into the top cuff of my boots that are that height a lot so I definitely need and ordered the full tall boot.

It's been in the -40s all week here and I am supremely over it. I can't hermit since I've had errands to run and my gym class to go to. I just hope I'm keeping A warm enough.

    @Zoomzoom No, thank you.

I think I have only felt a true -40 a few times in my life. I had to walk a short distance once when it was that cold. I had on thick tights, leggings, two pairs of socks, track pants, thermal boots, tank top, long sleeved t-shirt, sweater with hood up, two scarves, two hats, coat with hood up....

I am pretty sure the cold still cut through all of that.

It’s in the low single digits here today, my work wife is from Alabama and she is NOT having it. She doesn’t own a winter coat and refuses to buy one. She is going to be in either Iowa or upstate New York for the next two months so
I have no idea why she won’t at least get a cheap one.

We got a bunch of snow! It was so random I didn’t even think it was forecasted today. I made C and A snowcream and we taught C how to make snowballs. We played outside for like an hour but here is how you know your raising southern kids-

C, after like five minutes: “Wanna go get warm now!”
I gave him a second hat and thicker mittens and we pushed on haha
