Growing up in Montana, I remember just a couple of times where the schools actually closed. Most of the time, the buses just wouldn't run so it was up to parents to get kids to school. It had to be super, super icy or a blizzard or way below zero for that to happen though. They close here for all kinds of reasons.

I grew up in a Kansas military town and the general rule was if the base was open, school was open. I know we had a few days off growing up but no where near what other towns around us did.
  3. Some nice gentleman plowed my driveway! It's quite long, so I usually just street park til the snow melts and it's usable again.

Obviously we never get snow days but we did get a can’t-breathe-the-air-because-of-smoke day. They never close schools for anything so it was crazy when school was closed for the air quality. When I was growing up, the only time I remember school being closed is the day after the ’89 earthquake. They needed to make sure the buildings were ok before letting kids come back.

I had a shitty day at work and getting home in the snow was... not fun.

But Z met me at the door with a cup of tea and a blanket he'd put in the dryer so I am only mildly gruntled.

One of my coworkers is stuck in Denver now. At the airport. I feel so bad, this was supposed to be his last trip, he hates traveling away from his family.
He said all the bars are at capacity, he can’t even get a beer.

There's a tattered cover there so I think it is one of the better ones to get stuck at. Hope he gets out soon anyway.

He can hop a light rail to my house if he promises to water my plants for me.

He refused to call a cab or let the manager he's with drive from the airport to get him after the hotel shut down the shuttle cause the roads were too bad.

"I'd rather spend the night here than in a ditch on the side of the road."

My dahlias are dead, and I only got 3 blooms. Too much rain and hardly any sun this summer, and now early snow.

My parents got a bunch of snow and my mom is already over it. She called yesterday and it was over 90 here and I would have gladly changed places with her.

I'm in California where it's cooler than Michigan will be the rest of the week. I should probably check the lows at home though, tell D to bring in my tropical plants if it's getting that cold.

@whatchyagonnado - C is up in Greer today and said he thought it was going to be super hot up there. He took an extra shirt to change into before dinner because he sweats like a waterfall.. We are going camping/hiking upstate in 2 weeks and I am really hoping for some cooler weather by then. Even a little bit cooler. For some reason I thought it was cooler up there!
