Why does Amazon do their own delivery and why do they consider this "delivered to a secure location"? IT'S OUTSIDE!! In the open! On a sidewalk! Plus my deliver instructions specifically tell them to take it to the mail area which is INSIDE. Why have the delivery instructions options if you aren't going to follow it?

Amazon delivery is the worst. They pack the staffs' schedules with more deliveries than is feasible so they just basically toss and run. They don't even put the packages in their own branded lockers.

I think that is the case with a lot of delivery companies now. We have a meal kit delivery with instruction to leave the box under the awning in our backyard. There is no fence, it is just a walk up the driveway behind the house. It's an extra 20 feet or so. 9 times out of 10 the box is left at our front door. This week it was left in our neighbours back yard. Thankfully she is super nice and brought it over.

Yup our HF has an all caps note that is above our address that says DELIVER TO UNIT ON XX FLOOR and... that has happened maybe once in the last six months, and a couple of other times a very kind neighbor has brought it up for us.

The driver turnover with all couriers these days seems like another kettle of fish in itself. You can’t build a rapport or “train” them like you used to be able to, because they’ll be gone or on another route soon anyway.

I wonder what came first, the over-worked nature of delivery drivers or the high turnover.

    Almost certainly the former.

Getting high school transcripts and an original birth certificate for a job interview during normal times is annoying enough from the US to UK but of course it's a pandemic and everyone from my high school is working from home and I can't get in touch with anything except voicemails. Ugh. At least my parents have a birth certificate, but recently they sent my ballot request form with USPS and it took 3 weeks for the $37 option. So now they have to go spend more at FedEx or somewhere with tracking.

...what kind of job wants your high school transcript?

Still weird they want both of those things. My school district didn’t ask for either but maybe because you’re American in the UK they want those?

Birth certificate I can kind of see, especially since you’re from a different country, but I don’t understand high school transcript when you have a post secondary degree.

I’ve had to produce transcripts before so it doesn’t seem that jarring to me. You’d think my law school one would be enough, since you don’t go to law school in this country without an undergrad degree, but you’d be wrong.

I'm not applying for a job in your school district though. I've spoken to friends who work in education here and it's pretty standard. The job doesn't require a Master's, which I have, it requires specific GCSEs or equivalent. The only thing that is American specific is bringing my work permit.

I definitely had to produce birth certificate and proof of my required degree in addition to proof of licensure (even though you have to have the degree in order to sit for the licensure exam)

Yes I know you’re not applying in my district. My comment was based on my initial reaction of thinking it’s weird that they’re asking for HS transcripts. Then I said the UK must do things differently than here. I was agreeing with others about it being weird.

That sounds so annoying, but I’m here to wish you luck through the entire process and hoping you get that info soon.

We were watching a Fitz and the Tantrums acoustic performance on YouTube live through our TV and the power blipped because of the storms and it’s taking forever to reboot! Lame.

What's the reason for providing an original birth cert for an interview?

    Thanks so much!!

They need two forms of ID and this is the only substitute for a UK driver's license that can confirm my identity. Obviously my passport is my first haha.

As an update, my high school REALLY came through; I left them a voicemail on Friday afternoon during their graduation ceremony, and the assistant principal sent a scan of my transcript at 8am their time today. One less thing for me to worry about!
