D didn't really start legit eating solids on a regular basis (despite being offered) until around 12mos. I just varries SO MUCH between kids. I remember @deet's M started dropping bottles around what was it, 10mos? because all he wanted was solids. Others barely eat solids and prefer formula/BM. Babies do what babies do. Can't force them to eat, can't force them to sleep. If she's growing on her curve (she is! yay!) she's golden :)

@moose tbh, I never measured portions, but as long as her growth seems fine then I think you’re ok with her deciding how much is good.

Everything I’ve read has said that we as the parent decide when they eat and what they eat. But it’s the kid that decides how much to eat (or not) of what’s offered. Some days that will be a lot of food and others only a few bites. They are good at listening to their bodies at that age and knowing how much they need/want to eat.

*obviously if there are legit medical concerns around growth, then this wouldn’t apply

Thankfully growth has moved out of our area of focus, otherwise I’m sure I would be measuring everything. I just cannot imagine her eating that amount of food.

plus it doesn’t help that now she only wants to finger feed. If I try to help she’s just angry.

Yeah the dieticians I follow on Instagram all subscribe to the school of thought @megatron said. Mostly they focus on getting an iron rich food, a calorie dense food, and a fruit or veg on their plate at each meal whether they eat or not. And those foods can fill multiple categories. Mostly A eats what we eat.

E couldn't really process meat at that age. She certainly didn't eat that much at that age.

@moose E refused a bottle after 8 months so he ate more solids at daycare since he drank 4 oz of breastmilk total from a straw while he was away from me so I think he was hungry during the week. When he was getting closer to the 24-30 ounces of breastmilk he should have been getting at 9 months on weekends, then his solid intake was closer to what she’s eating now. We didn’t start offering snacks until he was 12 months old. His ped was happy with whatever as long as his growth wasn’t a concern.

Our pediatrician said 24oz dairy was the absolute max after 1 year and to aim more for around 16oz of milk (give it take) if he was getting any other dairy products during the day. We’ve found that M will fill up on milk and eat less on days when he gets close or over 20oz of milk. Milk is really the only think we measure.

Yes. He drank very little milk at this age.. It was actually even a bit earlier because he wanted all the food. I think the ped said min 10oz of BM or formula and she was fine with it.

Also- now he's back to drinking so much milk we have to limit it bc of the iron inhibition (IDK what to call it) and eats less food. LOOOOOL.

Anyone with more recent memories help me out here. How long were your kids in size 1 diapers? C2 is finally about to be out of NB diapers. I remember moving right through NB and 2’s with C1, I think.

I’m pretty sure that’s by design. If you clearly remembered the newborn stage, you’d never choose to do it again.

R is trying to say L is almost too big for her Size 1 diapers and I’m like noooo Size 1 says 8-14 pounds and Size 2 says 12-18 pounds! She’s probably like 11.5  I know it depends on like booty shape though. But I’m also just now giving up on Newborn size onesies. Come on baby just grow big and strong but also stay smol forever!

...Anyways she’s been in Size 1 for like a month so far; I’m not sure we have even another month left.

    Same as whatcha.

E is currently in size 6 diapers. It's over 35 lbs and she's currently 29 lbs. She's always been in bigger diapers. She probably has my butt.

Size 1 was about 2 months for us. Size 2 has been about 2.5 months, and I’m one diaper away from going up to size 3 because of so many blowouts lately. But we also have S in the Pampers Baby Dry right now and they do fit a bit smaller. When we used them with A for just overnight, it was always a size bigger than the ones we used for daytime (swaddlers then cruisers, both Pampers).

@fantasynerd The weight ranges are a joke. I always go by if she starts leaking, it’s time to size up.

Ours were about a month. M is similar to you @nym711 but has a huge butt so he’s in Target size 7. He needs to potty train bc I don’t know where to go from here.

Not very long, from what I can remember. Pretty sure I only used 2, maybe 3 of the jumbo boxes.

Eta: pretty sure only 2 boxes max. Amazon shows I ordered 2 boxes but returned one of them. I may have bought some from somewhere else, but overall, not many.

Haha cool, I think I’m all set. I was buying a size up in good deals, then had to get one last big box of N’s. He’s just 8lb but NB clothes are juuust fitting on him. I washed all the 3 mo yesterday so now he can actually stretch all the way out in his pjs.
