Did you read that book? You may need to change her dose if she’s gained weight or go to a different med if one isn’t working.

I did! The book is actually why I feel I might need to to back to GI sooner than our follow up. Maybe it’s a medication issue.

That book also made me feel better because I’m so tired of doctors brushing it off as “just reflux”. It’s not just anything.

    @MagnificentCat I hope everything is okay. <3

@moose Definitely follow your gut. Lame pun unintended. Poor baby girl.

I survived my first day with 3 kids. I’m pooped. I’m so thankful niece is an angel. It definitely made things easier. A was super clingy right up until she left. He did a lot better with her than I expected him to! I think he’s going to be a great big brother.

RSV (which we already suspected from the doctor) plus early pneumonia. About to get discharged and go grab his medication.. Will be here in the ER until his temp goes down and sent R to pick up his medication.

I feel like the worst mother in the world. I should have done something earlier.

@MagnificentCat you are nowhere near a terrible mother. Even your pediatrician wasn’t concerned up until now. You did the wonderful mother thing by monitoring him and continuing to push for care when he needed it most.

Looks like we’re staying put. I pushed hard for fluids. He’s only had 4oz today. ER doc said he actually looked pretty good and told him I don’t care. He looks terrible for him.

Oh poor little guy. Hopefully the fluids help and he’s on the mend soon!

Happy you’re advocating for him. Hope it helps ASAP and he gets to sleep at home soon.

Ugh I’m so sorry! So glad you’re pushing for him. I hope he’s back to himself in no time.

Ugh I'm sorry Mag. You're a great mom and I hope the fluids help a ton.

Yeah, I think it did help. He had tears in the corners of his eyes and that hasn’t happened in awhile.

So we’re home. He’s asleep in his crib after his first round of meds for the pneumonia. He even kept 2oz of milk down during a very abbreviated bedtime routine. Follow-up with our pediatrician in the morning.

Pneumonia has been going around our daycare, it seems. It's hard to know everything that happens with your baby @MagnificentCat!

I experienced something similar (less severe, but still distressing)...recently I said that I thought G had a UTI. Took him in 2 weeks ago to urgent care, pee came back fine. The ped asked me if I thought he could be constipated, and I said no -- he poops very regularly. Well, he had episodes yesterday, completely peeing himself, and peeing himself at school. Left work, took him to his ped instead of urgent care. Pee came back clear, so she sent him for an x ray.

I attributed his mood and the peeing to his change in classes to Pre-K. I was wrong. G is full of shit! That shit is pushing up against his bladder, thus the frequency of urination & incontinence. I felt like such a jerkwad.

That actually makes me feel better. Even when we were in the ER I kept doubting if I did the right thing by bringing him in. It’s impossible to know what to do.

It is! She told me to use Miralax. And then I googled Miralax to see side effects... and JFC. You can't win, I swear to Jeff Goldblum.

Hope your baby is feeling a little bit better, and you too :)

Jeff Goldblum who would ever think their kid was constipated if they were continuing to poop normally?!

I mean, I got a life less on the digestive system from the ped yesterday, including graphics with hands. :rainbow:

Edit: I guess the better term for it is that he's impacted.

@deet almost that exact same thing happened to my cousin's son, except instead of accidents, he kept complaining of stomach pain.

Oh, re: hydration one of the pediatricians at the practice (primary was out today) said she wanted to see at least 1 wet diaper every 4 hours, so I guess that’s the minimum hurdle for an older baby.

That happened to J @deet . he was crying when he peed and having accidents but samples were clear. He got a big ole poop or two out and was fine!

Wound up in GI today. She’s in the 9th %ile for weight and they’re happy with that. Removing one medication to add another before they have me remove gluten from my diet too.

Liking for them being happy with her weight, not for gluten-free.

Mostly good news from the urologist today. They don't see any swelling in the actual kidney so unless he starts having symptoms, they just want to recheck in a year. The doctor is still convinced that he will grow out of this issue and not need surgery. My urologist friend was pretty concerned by his ultrasound, but has very little experience with kids so we are considering getting a second opinion from another pediatric urologist just to be sure nothing needs to be done right now.

They did notice that the skin on his penis was trying to grow back together so they numbed it up and reseparated the skin. It sounds worse than it was, but it's definitely sore and angry looking now. We have to go back to pulling the skin away and applying ointment at every diaper change for the next couple of weeks and I'm hoping daycare will be good about doing it.

@Comet i’m glad the news was good today but it definitely makes sense to get another opinion since those two are polar opposites.
