Also use a basic boppy. Breast friend is not for me
That’s interesting to me! I love the Breast Friend pillow because it can snap up around me and stays tight to me. I’ve used other pillows but baby always falls between it and my stomach, so I find it to be much more supportive and keeps baby up.
Love the Boppy.
Also have a basic boppy and so far so good, but all I have to compare it to is throw pillows.
I could never get comfortable with any nursing pillow. It was always more trouble :/
I liked the Boppy but it was the only one I used. When C was very small I propped my leg with a pillow on the side that he was nursing and that helped.
I liked the Boppy more when M was older. I remember hating it when he was tiny because I thought it was hard to position him.
In the early days I feel like you need 37 pillows and none of them are quite right.
I did two boppys stacked onto each other
She is in the year 3000
Lol, this. And 14 hands.
Boppy is great. A+ purchase. I got the naked one and two cheapo covers for less than one with a boppy cover.
Just complaining here. C2 will latch and nurse from my right nipple. He is still teeny so it’s super shallow and it hurts. He will try but usually fail to latch on the left (it is slightly flatter than R). He will nurse there with the shield, but not as long as R. Back on the right he usually won’t use the shield.
And it’s hard to sort it all out because they really want him to gain weight quickly and catch up to where his curve was before he dropped off when he got sick again. So his doc said nursing once/twice a day or after he finishes a bottle and is still hungry is ok. But he hadn’t been gaining enough, so we want to get as much fortified milk in him as possible.
Now I’m pumping 4x/day which is much more sustainable at least.
Is the concern that if you do breast then bottle he will get too tired and have a lower intake? I hope he gains a bunch soon so you don’t have to do so many acrobatics!
Yeah, basically. Either he’ll fill up on “normal” 20cal
and not take any 28cal or he’ll spend too much energy and burn up all the calories.
Ugh that’s stressful @CoolWife . Hope it gets sorted out so the routine is easier for you both soon.
I don’t have advice, just solidarity and love. It’s such a tough spot.
