My cousin is a design producer for Lamps Plus, I'm glad you had a good experience with them!
Project manager just called and said the crew will be here Thursday to install the new HVAC!
Sometimes I really hate what I do. After learning about a location with poor air exchanges and increasing levels of CO2, we now have an air monitor on loan in our house for the next 3 days. I have absolutely no reason to believe there is anything wrong in my house, but logic? No thanks. Not when I can overreact and be paranoid.
I so understand that. Thanks to my job, I see hazards EVERYWHERE. At least this is one where you can get actual data to hopefully dispel your fears!
HVAC in! They handed me a boxed thermostat said “here, you already paid for this but it’s exactly the same as your current one, so we didnt bother switching them out”
@HBC shoulda handed it back like
It makes me feel validated bc i researched programmable thermostats heavily and this one was at the perfect intersection of function, reliability, and value. I didn’t purchase it through them the first time.
Our HVAC went out Friday. They came to look Tuesday morning. The guy cleaned it, some filter stuff on the unit was packed with dust or something from the previous owner. He cleaned it. We paid $265. Yesterday it quit again. I'm not happy. We hired this company last summer to come check the unit and do a service on it. You'd think they would have cleaned it but the tech said it looked like years of buildup.
In true "our town is actually Stars Hollow" fashion, the owner of the company is a donor at work, the tech that came on Monday is a coworker's son in law and one of their other techs is a guy I know through the downtown association.
These are all great people and I love the owner, so I don't want to be too much of a Carol but please fix my dang AC!!!
Come to my house, it has AC
And two VERY GOOD dogs!
I will be passing your way on the interstate next month! If I can figure out how to ditch my dad for a bit I'll let you know!
We at least have a window unit in the bedroom so we're camping out in here.
OK well, not a homeowner but our bathroom needed some recaulking in a few places so I did it. I know the owners aren’t going to do anything in the bathroom so it wasn’t worth mentioning to them. I love doing little DIY stuff like that and have done it in past apartments and the house I grew up in. The caulking around the bathroom window was nasty and should’ve been redone years ago. Ryan got the old stuff off and I put the new stuff on. I fixed a few other places. I need to regrout a few places also and might do it tomorrow. I noticed one of the corner tiles had been fixed with what looks like caulk. Like, it came loose and whoever put it back thought caulk was the way to go. I can’t fix that but it bothers me so much that they didn’t do it right.
Z's division of chores for today involved me hanging a few pictures while he cleaned up all the dog poop in the backyard.
I'm not going to argue with him (because duh), but pretty sure I got the way better end of the deal.
I just paid Home Depot to deliver 10 bricks to our apartment. I can’t stop laughing at how ridiculous that sounds but neither of us wanted to drive our asses to the store. We need some bricks to partially block the opening at the bottom of the balcony wall so Ben can’t get through.
eta- the store is not close to us and the delivery cost was only $8.99.
What a time to be alive
"Alexa, beer me a brick"
We have a bachelor bat (or more?) occasionally stopping over for a night in our attic. This will apparently cost us about $3k to remedy.
Can you just get like, a bat house and hope they decide to call that home instead?
I did make that suggestion. “They” say attics are nice and cozy and they won’t leave unless they have to.
I’ve been looking for a bat house so he has somewhere to go though.
Ugh, that sucks.
Do any chickens have solar? We’re going to get it installed this year (before the tax credit goes down from 30% to 26%), and I’ve been interviewing installers yesterday and today. The big thing I’ve gotten conflicting information on is string inverter vs microinverters.
She hasn't been around in awhile, but @pinacolada had it done awhile back.
Was trying to sneak a quick shower in andddd it broke. Waiting on the emergency plumber now (we had to turn the water off at the road because the shower was just pouring water).
Wtf @whatchyagonnado why can’t you catch a break??
Right?! Our garbage disposal also broke while we were in the hospital but thats more of a first world problem so we are ignoring it for now. Plumber is here now at least! I’m just hoping he can actually fix it because we have some weird model plumbing fixtures that aren’t sold in stores anymore.
Well $200 later we should be able to turn the water on.
