I was toying with the idea of using crystals
This is probably fine then
Nearly all of these: https://www.saturdaymorningpancakes.com/collections/halloween
Put that haunted house one in my next Christmas box. The twist on an annoying optimistic phrase is everything to me.
I only love my candy and my mommy. 100% accurate for C.
Oof, I really want that first shirt.
Omg I need this too.
Yeah you do.
EDIT: Ew, the black one only comes in small.
I have one of those from World Market, but it’s white. (Last year’s listing shows a 1¢ clearance price, but they do these every year): https://www.worldmarket.com/product/matte+white+ceramic+pumpkin+casserole+baker.do
The WS one is cast iron, that's the only thing. But, like, wtf am I making in a 3.5 qt Dutch oven, really? There's even a picture on the product page of a large one, but it's not up for sale and I can't even find a used one online anywhere, so....... what's up with that?
I desperately love this as a Halloween costume for L. If it had red, orange, yellow and gold feathers I think it would be the perfect Fawkes and then I could force N to dress up as a Harry Potter character with me. But ahhhhhhh so expensive! (It’s amazing though)
ETA: I sent the Etsy listing to N and said he’d have to be Dumbledore to match and then I can live my dream of being Professor McGonagall and he sent this in reply:
If he’s fucking with me right now this is grounds for divorce.
I bet you could make that Fawkes one! It would probably be really time consuming but then it'd come out exactly how you want.
@Aw Pigley Do you still feel that way if I say that I can’t sew literally at all?
N is making a case for doing something cheap and easy this year since we’re buying the house, and buying these costumes next Halloween. When L is a bit over 2 will I still get to choose her costume for her or will she have opinions about it?
@Kimmers glue gun the felt!
You can still strongly influence, don’t worry.
Also you can just use fabric glue.
@Kimmers L has a similar birthday to C (month wise) right? I think I could probably throw him in whatever I want this year at almost 2 BUT he has more defined interests so its more fun thinking of what I can come up with that he will like, if that makes sense. I am leaning puppy dog or mickey mouse.
Agree with the glue gun. If it's just for Halloween I don't care too deeply about quality. As long as it can last for a few wears lol
You can totally make that! White long sleeved onesie and some felt. For the cape you could buy (or cut out) a cheapie halloween cape and use that to glue felt "feathers" onto. So you have the shape. Even easier might be to do something like this with felt or fabric, and it would go over her like a capelet.
Thanks for the encouragement chickens! I think I’m going to try to make it! I’m sure it’ll take forever and look nowhere near as professional, but I love the idea of making her costume. Hopefully it doesn’t still cost me $170 when all is said and done LOL. I found this tutorial for wings that doesn’t look too hard to follow if I get a glue gun or this melt-y hemming tape.
I would assume I can use the hemming tape on a onesie too, for the feathers on her torso. Then I can get her some kind of golden yellow leggings (or not, because FL.) The mask (and the loops for the wings to attach to her wrists) seem like the most technically difficult bits, but hopefully I can figure those out.
You can get sheets of felt at a craft store, that may be cheaper than buying by the yard. You probably own't need a ton of it.
PSA- carters has baby and toddler costumes (limited selection) 50% off. Can add code TOUCHDOWN for 15-20% off further. I used a $10 reward coupon I had to get J a puppy dog costume for $12 when it retails for $44.
I'm so excited, I have to share my Halloween costume.
What roo said, but also no, at the same time.
