I never had to spell my maiden name. I wish I could have convinced P to take my name instead.
I hated my middle name since I was a child so I dropped that in a second and made my maiden name the middle.
At 27 my parents learned that I had always hated my middle name. Oops.
For anyone who still cares other than me, Hey Natalie Jean (ex Mormon Hipster Mommy Blog, supposedly pushed out of her friend group by Taza who doesn't give her daughter middle names) is back blogging. I'm kind of glad, I missed her brand of crazy, stream-of-consciousness writing.
I’m in. I hope it doesn’t make me hate her. She’s solely occupying the one small soft spot I have in my heart for bloggers. You go, Ms. Lovin.
Beatrice and Madalena.
I was so close to getting one right. LOL.
@TaterTot I came here specifically to tell you!
Is Madalena a name?
It is now!!
ETA its interesting that she hasn't blogged about them yet. National Doughnut Day got a post though. #priorities
How much do you suppose the sponsors who appear in the posts after the birth announcement but before the names/juicy details pay for that placement and exposure?
Taza cut her hair.
Ugh I know. What do you think is worse - her blonde days or this new haircut?
Honestly I think this might be worse. The only thing that's going to pull it back from GIRL, NO territory is if she's using this to grow out the half of her head of hair that's currently being used for bangs right now, because those things are like homeschooled third-grader thick and I can't.
Also, we talked about Nat being back, right? I really want to like Nat, and I am glad she's posting again, but she needs to do something different from what always has. Like, she's a sad-ish divorcee living behind a Target now, and her living room space is a cluttered, disjointed, hokey MESS, and she doesn't have a young child anymore (you know what I mean). Her posts HAVE to be different. We do not want to dress, live, shop, etc., like you, Nat. You aren't an aspirational blogger. No one wants what you're selling. There's truth and beauty in her life as it is if she'd just accept it and write honestly about it (which she can do, and sometimes does), but it's a bummer to see her still trying to do high-rise wide-leg ankle-length jeans and "vignette-ing" every square inch of her space. JUST STOP.
I just looked at Nat's most recent post and OMG that apartment It just doesn't work. I still love her voice and style, and would read the crap out of her opinions on Anne with an E (and possibly the memoir/beach read about her leaving mormonism).
Taza reminds me of a scarecrow with that hair. Or a raggedy Anne doll.
This seems like the best place for this. I just read a really great piece on what Natalie Lovin, formerly of Nat the Fat Rat and Hey Natalie Jean is up to now. Written by the same reporter who covered Nat during the heyday of Mormon Hipster Mommy Blogs, they re-connected in a ballet class.I found it candid and refreshing. Nat and I experienced infertility around the same time (which was also when GOMI seemed at its worst) and have always wished her the best.
Thanks, @Fitz. I have always had such a soft spot for Nat ... IDK. I always felt for her, like she was a swarthier, scrappier version of me being iced out by the MMM. Prolly read this in the bath later!
Okay this may be MAJOR no1curr but possibly of interest to some-
So occasionally over the years I’ve lurked over at hellobee after it was once mentioned on weddingbee. Its the site they ran after they sold WB and is for parenting. Specifically, I have lately been reading up on the old GOMI thread after someone linked it at HB.
Anyway, there have been many posts lately asking why the bees abandoned the site*, and its basically become user run except Mrs Bees random blog posts. They had a thread a few days ago asking how they as posters could keep it afloat and posters saying Mr Bee assured them they would keep it running, and they have some active bloggers like Mrs Sword (I think that was her WB moniker). One person was actively blogging about her cancer dx. Today I went to click an old link from GOMI and noticed the site went poof.
Tl;dr- the bees may actually be off the internet now. Kinda crazy to me.
(also the drama was not high recently at all, but the old stuff on GOMI is great)
It's still there! Their cert is just out of date. I read some HelloBee when R was new, and at some point The Bees said they were stepping back because they had moved to the Philippines and Mr. Bee's mom had been murdered .
Yea I saw that (that was supposed to be where that asterisks lead, whoops). Can the site actually run at all without a cert though?
Omg that's so horrible!
