It is royally fucked up. That poor woman.
This doesn't bode well for the poor woman given the location and the fact that she's African-American. I would say opt against a jury and have the judge decide, but again...
The slippery slope keeps getting steeper.
Yeah I’m guessing judges in Alabama are elected ... .
How cute are her parents in the stands, love it!!
The good (?) news is, after a ton of outrage, the charges were dropped.
Of course, they never should have been brought forth at all, but Alabama is kind of the worst. I'm embarrassed to live here most of the time.
Get it young lady scientist!
So my fear as a 2-3 year old was not unwarranted!
Please just assume you cant touch me. Touching includes but is not limited to cornering me in a stairwell at a pub and kissing your hand before putting your hand on my face.
Eat a bag of rotten sausages, fucker
Holy shit. Ugh. I’m so sorry, Ham.
A beautiful takedown of the MWM
Ridiculous that you can't have a twitter ad with vagina in it.
Just got a vmail from a local senate campaign. I'm ready to call back and yell at the guy. "I'm supporting Candidate X because she's a successful women's rights advocate, a mom (emphasized in the vmail) ...." CAN WE JUST NOT. She's in fact a fantastic labor/employment attorney who has done phenomenal work since graduating from my law school. I can guarantee you the other challengers and the incumbent aren't leading their calls with "he's a dad..."
This is something that I think a lot about.
I honestly think people throw that in there because it’s like “on top of doing all that, she also carries all the emotional burden of raising her children.”
People don’t even think of how sexist it is.
I’m fine with it being part of a lengthier explanation of who someone is and what she’s about. It’s leading with that that makes me sad.
@Pickles you are far kinder to those other people. I think they mention it because otherwise a woman is seen as less of a woman and person unless she's a wife, mother, etc.
Someone in a FB group I’m in (all women) posted about an encounter with a guy being disgusting and creepy and my comment included the phrase “men are trash.” Facebook flagged it as hate speech
It probably won’t do anything but I sent them feedback explaining why categorizing my comment that way is fucked up.
Maybe if men stopped being trash
