(On a serious note, may this earn you good DIL karma- redeemable against one MIL heavy sigh in your direction)
My in laws are fucking exhausting. I don’t even have the energy for details but if you have in laws (or parents) who can lead an adult life without making their children problem solve for them, you are lucky. (About to text some love to my super competent mom.)
My new therapist called my parents terrible parents in our session, and I've rarely felt so completely seen.
S and E wanted to play dress up after dinner last night. Immediately cue "why are you wearing a skirt, that's for giiiiirls" from a family member. Not in my house Buster.
Wrong, bye asshole. C was wearing all pink yesterday and has pink nails, I was on high alert but no one said anything other than SIL who complemented them.
Hadn’t heard from ILs regarding thanksgiving so we made other plans. Got a text today that they expect us to bring E over. Mmmm nope.
It’s okay because the next text really solidified that we aren’t going: “please, please, mom needs e to cheer her up”.
W had to work a half day today and then met his brother at his dad’s place to clean it out (he won’t be going back for a few reasons). It’s only a room, not even a full apartment, and allegedly it was just clothes and some important papers that they could put in his car. 3.5 hours, both of them actively working, and six rolling garbage containers later.... W has to miss my race tomorrow to go back down there to finish. I just texted my mom to thank her and her husband for being competent adults.
