Disney Parks! (and maybe Universal)

I wonder, is this the end for Critter Country in Disneyland? There's no more petting zoo, no more Country Bear Jamboree. They could make Splash a part of New Orleans Square under Tiana's benevolent reign. The canoes and Winnie the Pooh could just be annexed into Frontierland. Nothing would move, it would just be re-drawing map boundaries.

Okay this really made me question myself because I distinctly remember going to Disney before Splash Mountain opened, and I know I was 7 the first time I went which is impossible with a 1989 open - looks like it opened in 1992 for Disney World.

I doubt they ever would have re-themed it if not for the major current events.

There are several attractions that I feel like they could do more with that aren’t necessarily IP related. I am, however, excited for the Ratatouille ride.

Agreed because it's time for the trackless ride systems to make their way to the domestic parks.

I also would be down for a revamp of EPCOT with the pavilions having rides inspired by the country vs just shops. Norway had one but frozen stole it and China only has that nausea inducing 360 video.

They made a token tie in to frozen to please rabidly obsessed children. I have no real problem with it.

I liked Maelstrom, hated getting trapped at the ride exit while the theater doors closed to play The Spirit of Norway. Snooze.

There are already two at Disney World, I’ve ridden both and they’re really fun!

This was a journey. I should have brought J’s figment plush down here to go on it with me.

I am all for re-theming Splash Mountain but to @Kimmers point I do understand being sad when there’s so much nostalgia and memories tied to something you grew up with. I think those feelings are absolutely, perfectly valid @moose.

I’m still too scared to ever ride Splash Mountain but I’m more likely to give it a shot if it’s Princess and the Frog themed.

I’m still a little disappointed that the DCA “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” attraction, which was so fun when we went when I was like 12, wasn’t a long term thing. I also miss Tower of Terror, which technically has a movie! But Guardians isn’t bad

I’m on board with updating Splash Mountain. Though a part of me is a little disappointed, it’s the right thing to do. I’m not sure how you could truly take the racism out without a total retheme—one of the things about racism is that it’s so insidious. And why try to do something from scratch when PatF is right there and great?

Also Nightmare Before Christmas HM > Disneyland Paris HM > Disneyland HM > WDW HM

    but a wonderful AC break.

Did tower of terror movie come first or did the ride come first? Haunted Mansion’s movie came after and it was just.... no.

I think the movie came after but Tower of Terror was already tied in to Twilight Zone too.

What Kimmers said. And it’s only a TV movie but it has Kirsten Dunst in it.

I made R watch it with me a few years ago and IMO it wasn’t terrible.

I think a Princess and the Frog retheme for Splash Mountain is actually a great update. The music style is fun for a Bayou / Mardi Gras theme to go along with that kind of water ride. Also Tiana is awesome and not the flat, boring princess that most of the other princesses are. Obviously, given current times, a bigger showcase of diversity for kids to see (or see someone that looks more like them) is never a bad thing either, and especially not when it’s removing something that was so inherently racist to begin with.

I enjoyed Splash Mountain but it’s long past time they updated it.

I didn't really enjoy the main ride portion of WDW Splash Mountain when I went before so hopefully this will be more interesting.

I just love flume rides so I'm up for whatever they turn it into, it can only be better. I haven't actually watched Princess and the Frog so don't know what the "drop" would be. Moana would have been a good candidate for the update too. The new animatronics are so good, they should start updating a lot of the old stuff but I know people love the nostalgia of it all. It's A Small World definitely needs an update next, we still go on it. But like, only if there's no wait and basically just to be able to sit down in cooler air for a while.

Moana would’ve been great. There’s not much Moana representation in the parks, the cruises more so. My dream would’ve been The Emperor’s New Groove with the “drop” being the waterfall scene. But I know it’s not popular enough so it wouldn’t have worked.

They already have a new Moana attraction in Epcot though!

I think ENG is pretty popular but would work best at the water park with a straight drop slide like the cruise ships have.

Either way those are both IP though. Tiana and Co fit amazingly for this ride. They’ll he able to do great things with the bayou. I personally hope you drop to outrun Dr Facillier and/or his friends on the other side. Can you imagine the “are you READYYYY” song right before? Perfection.

Idk what they’ll do though since it takes place post film.

Oh right I forgot about the Moana walkthrough in EPCOT. That park is actually a lot better for non-IP rides so I’m hoping they add some more. Living With The Land is a fave.

I remember when Epcot first opened. Most of Future World was sponsored by some company or another. It was a bit ridiculous. I remember going back as an adult and thinking that they toned it down a lot.

What I’ve read is that the ride will be a kind of sequel to the movie, so who knows?
