And it’s the HEB brand! I still have stuff from them up here haha.
Rooster’s 40th is next month. He doesn’t really like “stuff”, and if he wants something he gets it for himself. He doesn’t know what he wants to do, and is being kind of flaky about maybe wanting to do a trip somewhere. He doesn’t think he wants a party. I want to do what he wants, but he doesn’t know what he wants, so I need a backup plan.
Maybe a small bbq at home with your closest friends/family? My rooster is similar in that I don’t often buy him a gift because he doesn’t need or want anything. I invited his aunts and uncles from out of town, for his 30th and he was so surprised to see them.
That’s a good idea
R has requested I get him a carrier for the baby so he can bring her with when he goes out on his walks. I don't think he'd be keen on wrap or sling type carriers, but there's so many options out there at wildly different price points I'm not sure what to even get.
Any suggestions on a carrier that would be comfortable for him when he's walking a lot, but also would be safe for use with her from "newborn" on?
D liked my Lillebaby. I have the mesh one.
Eta: is this a gift for him? Otherwise tell him to google it himself.
It's a gift. He didn't say "Get this for me" he just said "is there something that exists for babies like those kid backpacks so I can take her out walking with me?" And I said "yeah there are" and he said "we should get one sometime"
So I figured I would find a good one for him, because if left up to him he's either going to get the cheapest one they have at the store or he'll go the complete opposite and go to buybuybaby and get talked into the most expensive one
We liked our Ergo 360, and got the sport/active one which has mesh and is slightly(?) cooler to wear. You can get an infant insert in it for when they are tiny.
Look at the Tula Free to Grow or and infant size Kinderpack with Koolnit for breathability. If he's broad/tall you can get the Kinderpack with plus sized straps that make them more comfy. There's a FB group called Kinderpacks on a Budget where you can get them for less than $100.
For something you can look at in store the Infantino brand carriers are pretty decent, you can get those at Walmart or Target.
We have the Baby Bjorn Air Mesh 1 (or something like that...I can look at my Amazon history to get the exact name if you can't find it by searching that). M (6'3") and I (5'4") are both able to comfortably use it and it works from newborn on.
I liked my Ergo until I got a LILLEbaby Complete which I love. They have a ton of really good sales today too.
Kid two doors down graduated from High School and is going to college in the city we live now. We are friendly with his parents but only ever waive hi to him. I mean, he’s a 18 year old kid.
Anyway. Is $30 Amazon card an appropriate gift? I also wrote him a note with our numbers in case he needs a sober ride or safe place to crash and promised not to tell his parents.
I think that sounds perfect, especially the discreet sober ride part.
Agreed. My uncle and aunt offered that and while I never needed it I liked knowing someone nearby was there for me.
Ok thanks. I was second guessing. Like is it too much for not being close? But my initial thought was $50, maybe it isn’t enough?
I mean more is never bad, but I think $30 is great.
For that kind of relationship I think he would be happy you even thought of him! $30 is good!
We got Nephew M, 7, a KiwiCo crate subscription for his birthday. It's STEAM based crafts and materials and I'm very excited for him. He loves crafts and building things so I think it will be perfect. Plus, he gets mail with his name on it, which is also a favorite.
I got those for the kids for a few months and M, who’s 4.5, loves them.
I was contemplating getting this for G's upcoming (OMJG) 4th birthday! You have me sold @Roo.
My parents are already asking for Christmas gift ideas for C. He will be 8 months old then. Any suggestions for things I could tell them? I already have an Amazon list started for him, but it's all little stuff (books, PJs, bath toys, etc) and they are looking for something more substantial (in their words, ideas for his "main gift").
Jolly Jumper, Melissa & Doug fabric fish, Fisher Price Laugh n Learn Piano.
Money for his college fund.
