We never chained up for Yosemite but Ryan grew up there and is used to the roads. I won’t drive in snow because I’m not comfortable so he does all the snow driving.

Thanks chickens! I definitely did not know there was a difference between chains and cables; those ones on Amazon look good to me!

Our HRV does not have AWD (it does have all season tires though), but my understanding is that even if it did, during R2 conditions we’re technically supposed to carry/have chains even if we’re not using them.

Yes you’re still required to have chains/cables with you. We always have them in our trunk.

@CoolWife the new Forester edition - marketing ploy or accident?

I guess it depends on the price difference. It's to ship a miata.

It’s 1.5-2x the price for enclosed, though sometimes you can get a good price if they have a load not full.
I use Pilot Transport but they are local to me (ship everywhere). Reliable is the most.. reliable, and expensive. I use someone like Posey Logistics a lot of the time when it’s not something for a specific project that we have a deal with Pilot. They are a broker so you never know who’s going to show up, but it’s all insured, etc. There's likely to be one closer to you too but I’ve only worked with Import brokers on the west coast (Nissin).

Eta-Pilot/Reliable are all enclosed, a broker can find you anything.

Are there contacts there that would appreciate that you referred them or should I just call and speak to whomever?

Not unless I could remember a name and send you to the person I work with. And even then, nbd. I’d just call and ask. There are more companies that do more private transport if you do a Google, I’m just not familiar with them.

No worries. I just wanted to give credit if tjat helped you at all. It's just nice to be able to call a company that someone I know has history with. So many crooks out there in moving stuff.

So that wrap I had put on my car when I first got it is already peeling and looking like shit. I got a quote from a place near me to get it taken off. High end will be $760. I should’ve been patient and saved up more money to have it done at this place. At least it would’ve been done correctly. I’m kicking myself so hard right now.
